Strategically positioned at the intersection of regulation, market design, and energy transition, it contributes to the evolution of India’s modern power markets.Role DescriptionJob Description: Chief Compliance & Corporate Affairs Officer Location: New DelhiReporting to: Managing Director Objectives of the RoleSafeguard clients regulatory licence, market integrity, and institutional credibilityAnticipate and strategically respond to evolving power market reformsStrengthen client’s policy positioning and government engagement capabilityEmbed robust enterprise-wide compliance and governance frameworksEnhance stakeholder trust across regulators, policymakers, and market participants Key Responsibilities Lead overall regulatory and compliance strategy aligned with:CERC Power Market RegulationsElectricity Act and allied rulesEmerging power market reformsAnticipate regulatory developments impacting:Market CouplingGreen Markets (REC, GTAM, Carbon Markets)Capacity and flexibility marketsAdvise the MD & CEO and Board on regulatory risks, structural reforms, and market design evolution.Drive client’s position papers, consultation responses, and structured policy submissions.Lead corporate affairs strategy, ensuring structured and sustained engagement with CERC, MOP, CEA, Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL), NLDC, RLDCs, SLDCs and Grid Controller of India.Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior policymakers, regulators, and institutional stakeholders.Represent client in high-level consultations, hearings, policy discussions, and advisory forums.Strengthen client's institutional positioning and credibility in regulatory and policy corridors.Provide strategic guidance during sensitive regulatory or policy transitions impacting exchange operations.Establish and oversee a comprehensive enterprise-wide compliance framework covering:Exchange licence conditionsPower market regulationsMarket surveillance normsGrid code requirementsTechnology and cyber compliance linked to exchange operationsEnsure adherence to all regulatory reporting, disclosures, and audit requirements.Present periodic compliance and regulatory dashboards to senior leadership and the Board.Strengthen compliance culture and governance discipline across functions.Ensure regulatory alignment while enabling innovation and operational scalability.Collaborate closely with Market Operations, Risk, Technology, and Business teams to embed regulatory readiness early in product or system changes.Lead regulatory submissions and approvals for:New market segments and productsTechnology or platform changesRulebook amendments and procedural changesSupport business growth initiatives through anticipatory regulator engagement and structured advocacy.Oversee regulatory litigation and proceedingsCoordinate with external legal counsel on strategic regulatory matters.Build and sustain trusted relationships with:DISCOMs and State UtilitiesGenerators and IPPsPower TradersRenewable developersIndustrial and open access consumersProtect and enhance client's market reputation, fairness, and governance credibility.Act as a senior institutional ambassador reinforcing transparency and market confidence. Educational QualificationsB.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Electrical / Power / Energy Systems or related disciplinesMBA / Postgraduate qualification in Management (Preferred) Experience Profile25+ years of experience in the power / energy sector Strategic CompetenciesRegulatory & policy masteryCorporate affairs & government engagementRegulatory strategy and foresightCompliance governance & controlMarket surveillance & risk oversightRegulatory litigation & interpretationPower market and system operations expertiseThis is not a traditional compliance leadership role.It is an opportunity to operate at the intersection of regulation, market design, government engagement, and institutional credibility within one of India’s most strategically significant infrastructure sectors.
