Role Overview7+ years of experience.The Quality Engineer (QE) for IBM Sterling OMS is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of our end-to-end Order Management and Supply Chain solutions. This role focuses on validating complex order flows, inventory synchronization, and integration points using both manual and automated testing strategies.Key Responsibilities Functional Testing: Execute end-to-end testing for the Order Lifecycle, including Order Capture, Scheduling, Sourcing, Fulfillment, and Returns.Inventory Validation: Verify Global Inventory Visibility (GIV) logic, including supply/demand types, safety stock, and inventory segmentation.API & Integration Testing: Test Sterling’s REST/SOAP APIs and middleware integrations (MQ, Kafka, or ESB) to ensure seamless data flow between e-commerce and backend systems.Automation Engineering: Develop and maintain automated test scripts for the Sterling Business Center, Call Center, and Store applications using Selenium or similar frameworks.Data Integrity: Use SQL to perform backend validation in the Sterling database (YFS tables) to ensure order statuses and inventory buckets are updated correctly.Defect Management: Identify, log, and track defects, providing detailed technical documentation (logs, XML traces) to assist the development team in resolution.Core Qualifications7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance / Software Testing, preferably in enterprise-scale or e-commerce environmentsStrong expertise in end-to-end functional testing across complex business flows (Order Capture, Scheduling, Sourcing, Fulfillment, Returns)Proven experience testing Order Management Systems (OMS) or similar large-scale transactional platforms (e.g., Sterling OMS preferred)Strong hands-on experience in API testing (REST and SOAP) and validating system integrations across distributed architecturesExperience testing and validating middleware systems such as MQ, Kafka, or ESB-based integrationsAdvanced proficiency in test automation frameworks (Selenium or equivalent), including framework design and maintenanceStrong SQL expertise for complex backend validation, data reconciliation, and troubleshooting across large datasetsDeep understanding of data integrity and inventory systems, including supply/demand logic, allocation, and inventory segmentationExperience analyzing logs, XML payloads, and system traces for root cause analysisStrong experience with defect lifecycle management using tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platformsAbility to work independently on complex testing initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teamsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with Sterling OMS (IBM Sterling Order Management System) or equivalent enterprise OMS platformsExperience in retail / e-commerce / supply chain domainsExposure to CI/CD integration for automated testing frameworksExperience working in Agile / Scrum / scaled Agile environmentsProgramming knowledge in Java / C# / Python for automation framework development or enhancement
