Virbhu India Pvt Ltd a startup company located at Vadodara (Gujarat), wholly owned subsidiary of AK Power Solutions ( ) (USA), operating in the field of power electronics, has an immediate opening for a Head of Technical / development to lead development of Medium ACVoltage to medium DC voltage at 1000s of Amps with inbuilt Active Front End (AFE) converters and face shifted full bridge(PSFB) configuration to leverage the fast switching and low losses of SiC devices for high efficiency and power density using MMC topology and IGBT to develop power converters for fast growing markets such as high current DC fast Charging of trucks and buses , solar power generation , Battery energy storage systems, electrolytic deposition , electrolyzes to produce Hydrogen fuel and other applications of KA of DC current . We are racing to the market to bring solid state transformer technology to the market.We plan to sell our first 1000 Amp converter in 2026. AK power Solutions sells IPM (integrated power modules) for fast DC charging currently in USA and is led by an IIT graduate of 1965. In addition to this, he also leads highly profitable largest transformer manufacturer in USA. Virbhu is part of several complexes located in Roanoke, company is in the process of acquiring a manufacturing facility. Head Technical / Engineering , a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the design, development, and testing of power electronic systems for various applications, such as Vehicle Charging Infrastructure and renewable energy. This role involves leading a team of engineers, managing projects, fostering innovation with new technologies like SiC / Si-IGBT semiconductors, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with other departments and external partners to bring products from concept to manufacturing. You will have the opportunity to expand a small team in place rapidly to meet market specs and provide a working model. The company plans to build several protypes for different application, develop design and specifications for third party manufacturers. You will develop the vendor and assure process and product quality. Job Location: Vadodara (Gujarat) India – this is a must. Job Description: Strategic Leadership Define and lead the R&D strategy to develop product meeting application requirements and specifications and achieve UL certification . Develop a technology development roadmap to support the execution of the product roadmap. Technical Expertise & Innovation: Oversee design, development, and testing of power electronic circuits, converters, inverters, controls, software and integrated systems. Lead product specifications, design and the modelling of power electronics used in power converters. Lead the creation of schematics, BOMs, test specifications, and technical documentation. Oversee and lead PCB Layout and Mechanical designs. Strong working knowledge of power-electronics selection and layout for Thyristors, Si-IGBT and Sic-MOSFET based switching devices and circuits. Experienced in testing debug system problems. Knowledge of mitigation of EMI/EMC issues with power electronics circuits desired. Project Management: Manage R&D project portfolios including budgeting, resource allocation, timelines, and risk management. Ensure timely delivery of prototypes, validation, and product transfer to manufacturing. Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary R&D team including electronics / Electrical engineers, Embedded Software/Hardware developers, and test engineers. Foster a culture of creativity, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Product Management, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure product feasibility, manufacturability, and quality standards. Engage with external partners, academia, and technology vendors to leverage new knowledge and partnerships. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all R&D activities comply with industry standards and UL regulatory requirements. Oversee documentation of technical specifications, test reports, and patents. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Power Electronics, or related field; PhD preferred. 20+ years of progressive experience in R&D management within the power electronics domain. Extensive experience in product development and lifecycle management Strong knowledge of power semiconductor devices, embedded systems, control algorithms, and hardware design Skilled in leading organizational development and driving change Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across diverse interests and agendas What's on Offer Leadership Role in our growing startup.
