Job Title: Head of Department (HOD) – Life Sciences Location: Parul University , Vadodara Department: Life Sciences Reports To: Dean / Academic Director Job Summary The Life Sciences Department is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Department (HOD) to lead and manage academic, research, and administrative functions. The HOD will drive the strategic direction, foster faculty and student development, enhance curriculum quality, and promote innovative research activities to maintain and elevate the department’s academic excellence and industry relevance. Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership: Define and implement a clear strategic vision for the Life Sciences department, aligned with the university’s mission and goals. Faculty Management: Mentor, evaluate, and support faculty members’ professional development, research, and teaching effectiveness. Curriculum Oversight: Lead curriculum development, review, and enhancement at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, integrating modern teaching practices and industry standards. Student Engagement: Oversee student mentorship, advising, and extracurricular programs. Facilitate industry partnerships for internships, guest lectures, and experiential learning. Research Promotion: Encourage and support faculty and student participation in research projects, grant acquisition, and scholarly publications. Administration: Manage departmental operations, accreditation processes, budgeting, and resource allocation effectively. Qualifications Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Life Sciences. Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Life Sciences are required. Experience Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in Life Sciences, with at least 10 years in academic teaching and research. Minimum 5 years of administrative or leadership experience within an academic setting. Experience with online and blended learning methodologies preferred. Demonstrated commitment to pedagogical innovation and student success. Strong knowledge of current trends and challenges in Life Sciences education and industry. Skills and Attributes Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, students, and industry partners.
