Research Scientist – Biocatalysis, Protein purification & Downstream

Key Responsibilities Biocatalysis: Enzyme selection/screening, cofactor recycling, immobilization basics, solvent/aqueous systems, pH/DO/mass transfer control, scale-up, green metrics Purification/ Downstream : Clarification, precipitation, AKTA/FPLC, chromatography (Affinity/IEX/HIC/SEC), UF/DF/TFF, solvent exchange, crystallization/lyophilization. Analytics/Tools: HPLC/UPLC, GC, LC-MS, SDS-PAGE, chiral analytics, DoE (JMP/Minitab), ELN/LIMS, strong Excel/data handling. Design and execute experiments for enzyme screening, expression, and purification (affinity, ion exchange, HIC, SEC, etc.). Design studies and lead workstreams for lab-to-kilo scale (biotransformation's 0.1–20 L; purification mg–10 g and higher) Drive process robustness/scale-up, troubleshoot enzyme stability/mass transfer/fouling/resin lifetime. Characterize enzymes using biochemical and biophysical techniques (SDS-PAGE, HPLC, LCMS, UV-Vis, etc.). Collaborate with molecular biology, fermentation, and analytical teams to ensure seamless workflow. Maintain accurate records, analyse data, and present findings in internal meetings. For TL/SRS roles: Lead project teams, coordinate cross-functional activities, and contribute to strategic planning.
