Job Type: Full Time
Job Description:
Program Duration : 6 – 8 Months (Full-Time Fellowship)Role Summary The Bioinformatics Fellowship is a structured, project-based learning program designed to build foundational to advanced skills in computational biology, genomics, and data-driven life sciences research. Fellows work on real-world datasets, receive guidance from experts in biology and data science, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to gain practical experience across the bioinformatics workflow — biological data acquisition, sequence analysis, genome annotation, multi-omics integration, molecular modeling, ML-powered prediction, scientific reporting, and reproducible research.Key Responsibilities Biological Data Processing & Analysis: • Retrieve and preprocess biological datasets from NCBI, ENA, UniProt, PDB, and other repositories. • Perform sequence alignment, BLAST searches, and phylogenetic analyses. • Conduct genomic and proteomic annotation using established pipelines and tools. Computational Modeling & Algorithms: • Run gene expression and differential analysis using RNA-Seq, microarray, or proteomics datasets. • Support structure prediction, molecular docking, or protein modeling depending on project requirements. • Assist in developing or modifying bioinformatics workflows using scripting languages (Python/R). Multi-Omics Integration & Data Interpretation: • Analyze genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, or epigenomic datasets to extract biological insights. • Apply statistical and machine learning approaches in computational biology where applicable. • Interpret analyzed data in the context of biological functions, pathways, diseases, or pharmacology. Documentation, Reporting & Scientific Presentation: • Maintain clean research logs, software documentation, and workflow records. • Prepare visualizations, dashboards, and plots to summarize biological findings. • Present project results during reviews and produce detailed scientific reports for publication-style submission. Learning Outcomes: • Develop end-to-end bioinformatics research skills, including dataset retrieval, preprocessing, analysis, interpretation, and reporting. • Gain hands-on experience with bioinformatics tools, databases, and pipelines. • Strengthen computational and biological reasoning for solving real-world biomedical and clinical research problems. • Build a research portfolio including genomic workflows, omics analyses, molecular modeling, and bioinformatics-based case studies. • Improve scientific writing and presentation skills with a focus on biological insight, accuracy, and reproducibility. Qualifications: • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Computational Biology, or related fields. • Understanding of core molecular biology and genetics concepts. • Familiarity with Python/R, database searching, or biological datasets is an advantage. • Strong analytical mindset, curiosity for biological discovery, and willingness to learn new tools. Program Benefits: • Mentorship from computational biology and bioinformatics researchers. • Hands-on experience with real biological and clinical datasets. • Opportunity to present research outcomes to scientific and industry reviewers. • Fellowship certificate and digital badge upon completion. • Career pathway to roles such as Bioinformatics Analyst, Genomics Research Assistant, Computational Biology Associate, Proteomics Analyst, or R&D Data Scientist.
