Mental Health Technology Developer

At Yuna, we are on a mission to revolutionize mental health support by providing instant and private assistance. Our goal is to bridge the gaps in accessibility that exist within the current system. The waiting times for therapists can be as long as 48 days, and many individuals cannot afford quality care. This is where Yuna comes in – offering immediate mental health support. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of mental health technology as we grow rapidly. Your responsibilities will include designing, building, and operating services for conversation state, user memory, retrieval, and tool integrations (REST/gRPC). Key Responsibilities: Design and develop conversational AI systems that ensure seamless communication between humans and machines. Collaborate closely with clinical psychologists to guarantee the efficacy of our conversational AI. Work in tandem with front-end teams to create APIs, conduct quality assurance, and implement new features. Implement alignment and safety layers that align with clinical guidelines. Optimize our systems for latency, cost, and quality. Partner with product, sales, and users to scope out new features and improve existing ones. Requirements: 5+ years of experience building backend systems in production, with strong systems and API design skills. Hands-on experience with AI agents, RAG pipelines, and LLMs. Cloud infrastructure expertise, specifically Google Cloud Platform. Proficiency in relational and vector/search systems, as well as real-time communication protocols. Nice to have: Swift for iOS client integration. A strong product sense, prioritizing user outcomes over model metrics. Comfort working with ambiguity and creating systems from scratch.
