Job description Position: Area Sales Manager (Depot In-charge) Function: Retail Location: Department: Sales Role Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Area Sales Manager (ASM) to lead and manage the sales operations of a dedicated Depot within a specified territory. The ASM will be responsible for driving the sales volume, value, and growth targets by leading and motivating a team of frontline sales personnel. You will be instrumental in expanding the retail distribution network, tracking competitive activities, and monitoring local market trends to identify opportunities for growth and improvement. The ASM will also have full accountability for the performance of the Depot and will oversee its day-to-day operations. Key Responsibilities: Sales Performance & Target Achievement: Lead and manage the sales operations of a single Depot, ensuring the achievement of monthly and annual sales targets (volume and value). Develop and implement effective sales strategies and action plans to drive growth in the territory. Monitor sales performance against targets and take corrective actions as necessary to meet business goals. Foster a high-performance culture within the sales team, setting clear objectives and expectations. Team Management & Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of frontline sales personnel, ensuring optimal performance and development of team members. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and training to improve sales effectiveness. Build a strong, cohesive team with a focus on collaboration and achieving sales targets. Market Analysis & Competitor Tracking: Continuously monitor the local market landscape and competitor activities to identify trends and business opportunities. Provide insights to senior management regarding market changes and competitive strategies. Analyze sales data and market trends to adjust sales strategies accordingly. Distribution Network Expansion & Management: Identify opportunities for expanding the retail distribution network within the territory. Develop and implement effective distribution management schemes to maximize coverage and penetration. Ensure the optimal allocation and management of resources within the Depot. Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty. Act as a liaison between customers and the organization, addressing their needs and concerns proactively. Professional Qualifications: Essential: Bachelors degree (Graduate) + MBA (Marketing) Experience Requirements: 10-12 years of hands-on experience in sales management through a channel network, preferably within the paints, building materials, tryre or related industries. Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets in a highly competitive market. Strong experience in managing a sales team and Depot operations independently.
