We are looking for a Robotics/ Mechatronics Engineer + Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join the Robotics Specialisation team at our Computer Science & Engineering Department. This academic-focused role requires a strong foundation in robotics, embedded systems, and a passion for teaching and mentoring students in cutting-edge engineering disciplines. This is a full-time academic role. Key Responsibilities ● Course Development & Delivery: Design and deliver engaging lectures and practical sessions in Robotics, including areas such as robotic kinematics, dynamics, control systems, embedded programming, and perception. ● Lab Management: Conduct and manage lab sessions using platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ROS (Robot Operating System), and simulation tools like Gazebo or Webots. ● Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with faculty members, researchers, and industry partners to enhance the robotics curriculum and align it with industry demands. ● Academic Excellence & Student Success: Mentor students, assist with robotics project work, and ensure their academic and technical growth. ● Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with university administrators and Newton School representatives to drive innovation in robotics education. ● Research & Innovation: Encourage students to engage in research, robotics competitions, and real-world prototyping challenges. Qualifications & Experience Must-Have: ● Prior experience as a Robotics Engineer, Embedded Systems Developer, or Software Developer with a focus on robotics applications. ● Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and experience with microcontrollers and hardware integration. ● Hands-on expertise with robotics hardware (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, sensors, actuators) and frameworks like ROS. ● Solid understanding of robotics principles, including control theory, localization, and path planning, and automation. ● Strong ability to simplify complex robotics concepts and communicate effectively with students. Good-to-Have: ● Prior teaching or mentoring experience at the undergraduate or graduate level. ● Experience with AI/ML applications in robotics (e.g., computer vision, SLAM). ● Familiarity with hardware prototyping, PCB design, or mechatronics systems. ● Participation in or mentorship for robotics competitions (e.g., Robocon, RoboCup)
