Job Description for Hostel WardenTo ensure the safety, discipline, welfare, and overall well-being of students residing in the hostel, and to manage day-to-day hostel administration in line with MIT Vishwaprayag University policies and regulations.Key Responsibilities & Duties1. Student Welfare & Discipline- Act as the primary point of contact for students residing in the hostel. - Ensure strict adherence to hostel rules, code of conduct, and curfew timings. - Address student grievances related to accommodation, safety, food, health, or interpersonal issues. - Counsel students on personal, academic, and behavioral issues in coordination with the Student Welfare Cell. - Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful living environment.2. Safety, Security & Emergency Management- Ensure 24x7 safety and security of hostel residents. - Coordinate with security staff, housekeeping, and maintenance teams. - Monitor visitor entry/exit registers and enforce visitor policies. - Handle emergencies such as medical issues, accidents, fire safety, or disciplinary incidents and report to authorities promptly. - Ensure compliance with fire safety norms, CCTV monitoring, and emergency protocols.3. Hostel Administration & Operations- Oversee room allotment, occupancy records, and student attendance. - Maintain hostel registers: - Student admission & exit register - Attendance & leave records - Visitor log - Incident and complaint register - Supervise housekeeping, cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene standards. - Coordinate with mess committee/vendors to ensure quality food services.4. Coordination & Communication- Liaise with parents/guardians regarding student well-being when required. - Coordinate with academic departments, medical officers, counselors, and administrative offices. - Submit regular reports on hostel functioning, discipline, and incidents to the administration.5. Compliance & Institutional Requirements- Ensure hostel operations comply with UGC/State Government/University norms. - Support institutional requirements during NAAC/NBA/other accreditation visits. - Maintain documentation and records required for audits and inspections.6. Student Engagement & Development- Encourage a positive hostel culture through meetings, awareness programs, and activities. - Promote discipline, leadership, responsibility, and community living among students. - Monitor behavior to prevent bullying, harassment, or misconduct.Required Qualifications- Graduate/Postgraduate degree (preferably in Arts, Social Sciences, Education, or related fields). - Experience in the relevant field for minimum of 8-10 years.
