The role is critical in ensuring timely availability of materials, prototypes, and equipment, while driving cost optimization, supplier development, quality compliance, and strong cross-functional coordination. The position plays a key role in enabling smooth R&D execution, faster prototyping, and efficient product development.Key Roles & Responsibilities (KRAs & KPAs)1. Timely Procurement for R&D Projects- Ensure on-time procurement of components, raw materials, lab consumables, prototypes, and equipment. - Align procurement activities with R&D project timelines to minimize delays. - Proactively track requirements and expedite critical items.2. Cabinet & Bus Bar Sample Development- Share technical and commercial requirements clearly with vendors. - Conduct vendor feasibility checks for sample development. - Prepare and execute sample development plans. - Coordinate and support first sample manufacturing.3. Vendor Identification & Development- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers for specialized R&D and prototype requirements. - Develop alternate and backup vendors to reduce dependency risks. - Build long-term partnerships with capable suppliers.4. Cost Optimization for R&D Materials- Achieve cost savings through alternate sourcing and negotiation. - Reduce cost of prototypes, sample parts, and customized components without compromising quality. - Analyze cost structures and suggest cost-effective solutions.5. VA / VE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering)- Understand detailed cost breakdowns of parts and assemblies. - Identify alternative materials and processes for cost and performance improvement. - Evaluate supplier capabilities and manufacturing processes. - Perform cost comparison and benchmarking. - Drive VA/VE discussions and negotiate outcomes aligned with functional requirements.6. Quality Compliance in Purchases- Ensure all purchased items meet defined technical specifications, quality standards, and certifications. - Achieve high first-time acceptance rates. - Minimize rejections and returns. - Ensure strict compliance to approved drawings and specifications.7. Documentation & Process Compliance- Maintain accurate and complete purchasing records, including RFQs, quotations, comparative statements, and PO approvals. - Ensure zero audit non-compliance. - Maintain high accuracy in PO–GRN–Invoice matching. - Ensure 100% purchase orders are raised with complete documentation.8. Market Awareness & Cost Benchmarking- Stay updated on market trends, price fluctuations, and emerging technologies. - Perform market price variance analysis. - Maintain and regularly update the supplier database. - Prepare and present quarterly cost benchmarking reports.9. Cross-Functional Coordination- Work closely with R&D, Production, Quality, Finance, and Stores teams. - Support overall company objectives through effective coordination and communication. - Act as a bridge between technical teams and suppliers.Desired Skills & Competencies- Strong understanding of R&D procurement and prototype sourcing - Cost analysis, negotiation, and vendor management skills - Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials - High attention to detail and documentation accuracy - Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills - Analytical, proactive, and problem-solving mindset
