Job Description:
Objective of consultancy To design, develop, and deliver contextually relevant, science-based, and welfare-focused training modules on AMR, zoonoses and animal welfare for veterinarians paravets and community animal health workers. Scope of WorkThe consultant will be responsible for: A. Needs Assessment and Scoping · Conduct a rapid needs assessment analysis to document knowledge gaps, existing training materials, and best practices relevant to AMR,zoonoses and animal welfare among Indian veterinarians,paravets and community healthcare workers. · Map relevant national and international frameworks (e.G., OIE, WHO, FAO, NAP-AMR, ICAR, IVRI curricula). · Engage with key stakeholders (veterinary councils, animal welfare groups, public health agencies) for insights and validation. B. Module Design and Content Development Develop three-tiered modular content: 1. Veterinarian-level module: In-depth technical, clinical, and welfare-focused. This will be a train – the trainer module for vets to train fellow vets and paraveterinarians. 2. Paravet/community-level module: Simplified, practical, and field-appropriate. Each module should include: · Learning objectives aligned with One Health and welfare outcomes · Interactive content (case studies, scenarios, infographics) · Practical components emphasizing animal welfare-friendly and biosecure animal handling, diagnostic stewardship, and rational antimicrobial use · Assessment tools(pre/post tests, reflective exercises) · Integrate cross-cutting themes of animal welfare and One Health Ethical and Welfare Considerations All content and recommendations must align with: · *Animal welfare best practices, including humane handling, housing, transport, slaughter, disease prevention through welfare, and avoidance of unnecessary antimicrobial use. · *Ethical standards in training and research. · *National and international policies on AMR and zoonoses control. C. Training Delivery Plan Propose a training delivery strategy, including: · Online and offline delivery methods · Suggested duration and facilitation methods · Monitoring and evaluation framework to measure learning outcomes · Develop facilitator’s guides, participant manuals, and supporting communication materials. D. Validation and Finalization · Present draft modules for review to Humane World team. · Incorporate feedback and finalise training package (including digital versions and print-ready files). Upto 3 revisions. · Provide recommendations for piloting, scaling, and integration into existing veterinary training systems. Deliverables and Timelines · Inception Report - Detailing methodology, work plan, and outline of modules (Week 2) · Needs Assessment Summary - Key findings and recommended structure (Week 4) · Draft Training Modules - Full draft of veterinarian and paravet/community versions (Week 8) · Validation Workshop -Facilitation of feedback session with Humane World team (Week 9) · Finalized Training Package - Complete, editable, and validated modules (Week 11) · Summary Report - Including recommendations for implementation and scale-up (Week 12) Duration of Assignment : Approximately 12 weeks (3 months) from the date of contract signing.
