Electrical Engineer Sr. or Staff LevelINDIA / ENGINEERING / FULL-TIMEVerdagy is creating a new class of very large-scale hydrogen electrolyzers that will help decarbonize some of the most difficult to abate sectors of our global economy. Our approach is to design large modular skid-mounted hydrogen electrolyzers that will be used to architect very large-scale hydrogen production plants.Our commercial electrolyzers operate at high current and high voltage. As an Electrical Engineer, you will lead the design of our power systems and collaborate closely with vendors to develop key electrical infrastructure for our electrolyzers, including transformer-rectifiers, busbar systems, grid and renewable power distribution equipment, and electrical safety systems.This is a remote position based in India, supporting Verdagy’s projects in India and internationally. The role will require travel to transformer-rectifier vendor sites for design reviews, factory inspections, and product qualification activities.ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES• Develop deep expertise in SCR- and IGBT-based rectification technologies, including ripple current reduction and grid harmonic mitigation, to specify and qualify Verdagy’s high-current transformer-rectifier units (TRUs) and lead the vendor selection process.• Evaluate TRU vendors’ manufacturing capabilities and facilities, and manage TRU procurement from design through final delivery, including vendor inspections, technical reviews, and ongoing supplier communications.• Work with EPCs to select and specify electrical equipment for connecting Verdagy’s commercial electrolyzers to site power and satisfying grid power quality requirements• Lead commercial plants cell house electrical safety design• Design and ensure safety of Verdagy’s pilot electrical systems• Develop best practices to connect Verdagy’s electrolyzers to different renewable electricity sources• Experience with plant certification, compliance, and safety per IEC, IEEE, CE, UL, NEC and other electrical codes• Supports internal process engineers and scientists in the development of plant-based data acquisition systems and other electronic hardwarePRIOR EXPERIENCE & PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering• Minimum 5 years industrial electrical engineering experience• Experience in high current and voltage electrochemical industry such as green H2, Chlor alkali, Aluminum electrolysis or rectifier production highly preferred.
