Job Description:
The job position is located at each unit (IU/GU/BT) level and identified as Road Operations Executive . He/She is primarily responsible for ensuring fleet availability as per plan for outbound road movement of cement (bagged or bulk) and outbound/inbound road movement of clinker .Reporting of Road Operations Executive is to Road Operations Manager, who is responsible for overall road logistics operations of unit.Road executives are responsible for aligning fleet on daily basis as per the S&OP targets. Depending on the fleet availability and daily segment-wise orders, coordinating with Packing plant for timely loading of fleet in unit, (OPC/PPC, Bag/Bulk/Clinker) in order to meet customer commitment as per business objectives.Job is also responsible for optimized utilization of fleet deployed by transporters i.e. truck turnaround time as per the agreed parameters. In case of contingencies (high market demand and limited logistics resources),road operations executive has to mobilize additional resources and create self-sufficiency.Main emphasis of job is to strive continually for improving logistics efficiency in order to create differentiation in customer service satisfaction, logistics cost optimization and adherence of road safety standards by utilizing technological support like GPS application and market intelligence.Road manager has an active role in driving transport safety in unit. He need to utilize TYMS at full extent, educate drivers and transporters for adhering compliance of road safety standards.Road manager has to closely work with Road Executives and shift operations team for daily order execution and planning. He has to make maximum use of IT tools (SAP, BI, & GPS) for monitoring, scheduling, planning of fleet and its utilization (trip performance, revenue, km run, volume lifted) and also to achieve desired service levels (CSL and DC)Major challenges:1. To ensure the timely delivery of finished goods and ensure that service levels are maintained.2. To optimize the utilization of the delivery fleet by striking a balance between Dedicated/Market Fleet Ratio and Mode-Mix Ratio.3. Managing networking and relations with the Transporters, Marketing and Packing Plant.4. Managing services to meet customer demands and requirements.Compliance to Sales & Operations Planning1. Ensuring timely deployment of the fleet for the assigned sector / segment in line with the orders.2. Monitors COF order, schedule the pending orders in line with plant production capacity.3. Providing trigger w.r.t change in grade / product for loading from various packers w.r.t customer's prioritization.4. Responsible for providing order visibility to vendor, to follow up for execution of order, scheduling and coordinating with packing plant foe loading of fleets deployed.5. Responsible for additional fleet deployment within a short notice period depending upon the customer requirement, rake availability & forecast for capacity utilization.6. Responsible to find out the scope for improvement of truck turnaround time inside the plant.7. Responsible for order allocation to the vendor.Cost Management1. Providing inputs based upon market survey, prevailing market primary freight in the cluster & inflow & outflow of the fleet.2. Providing inputs w.r.t PER TON PER KM analysis & further analysis where ever there is a large variation.3. Conduct route mapping, find out alternative routes and freight accordingly.4. Create a data base w.r.t Toll Master sector wise, available of fleet with type sector wise etc.Achievement of desired Customer Service Levels/Delivery Compliance1. Providing the visibility to vendor w.r.t qty, delivery window schedule & priorisation and scheduling for loading and giving desired inputs to shift for maintaining the desired service level.Vendor Management1. Creating a database of those trucks which are deployed long back and presently out from the circuit and working jointly with vendor to attract maximum truck for further deployment.2. Educating the vendor to get maximum benefit by tracking the fleet movement, trip time, no. of trips sector wise.3. Follow up with TSM / Accounts dept w.r.t timely getting acknowledgement and vendor payment.Safety1. Ensure safety compliance for all vehicles and drivers loaded from Plant2. Conduct regular defensive driving trainings for drivers3. Create Awareness on Road Safety for both inbound/outbound vendors and drivers
