Senior AI Backend Engineer

Senior Python Engineer (AI/Backend)Full-time remote position focused on Python development, software engineering, and AI integration.Key ResponsibilitiesLead development of complex Python applications using the Django frameworkDesign and build AI-powered features, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and intelligent search systemsIntegrate LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) and other AI/ML services into backend systemsManage vector databases and embedding workflows for knowledge retrievalManage projects from conception through deploymentEnsure timely delivery and high-quality outputContribute independently to the codebaseCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including US-based colleaguesImplement and enforce best practices around code quality, testing, and documentationEvaluate and recommend emerging AI tools, frameworks, and models to improve product capabilitiesRequirementsEssential Qualifications6+ years of experience with Django or Python web development2+ years of hands-on experience building AI/ML-powered applications or featuresDemonstrated experience building RAG pipelines using frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or HaystackProven experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, etc.) into production backend systemsWorking knowledge of vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, ChromaDB, or pgvector)Strong understanding of prompt engineering and LLM orchestration patternsProven track record of successful Python projectsExceptional communication skills — both written and verbalAbility to work effectively in a fully remote environmentStrong independent work ethic, self-motivation, and disciplineComfortable working overlapping US team hoursPreferred QualificationsExperience with React front-end developmentBasic knowledge of GoLangFamiliarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their AI/ML services (SageMaker, Vertex AI, Azure AI)Experience with fine-tuning or evaluating LLMsFamiliarity with embedding models and semantic search techniquesKnowledge of AI observability and evaluation tools (LangSmith, Weights & Biases, etc.)Understanding of Agile methodologiesTechnical SkillsPython, Django, Web Development, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)LLM APIs & Orchestration (OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, LlamaIndex)RAG Architecture & Vector DatabasesDatabase Management (relational + vector stores)API Design & IntegrationWork Environment100% RemoteCollaborative international teamProject-driven development approach
