At Ovyo, our people build the platforms that shape the way the world watches video and connects, working on a mix of long-term customer engagements and shorter consulting projects, quickly fast tracking their experience within the industry, and their career.We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our multidisciplinary, agile Core Platform Engineering team. You will play a key role in designing, building, and optimising a large-scale platform that delivers Video on Demand and Live Events to users worldwide.The platform is built on Java-based, event-driven microservices and RESTful APIs running on AWS, and the team are solving complex, high-scale engineering challenges every day. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment and takes real ownership of the systems they build.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, maintain and optimise backend services and APIsDevelop and operate event-driven microservices running on AWSEnsure platform reliability, scalability, performance and securityCollaborate closely with product, QA and DevOps in agile delivery teamsCreate and maintain automated tests (unit & integration)Take ownership of features and services from design through to productionContribute to architectural decisions and engineering best practicesRequired Skills & ExperienceStrong commercial experience with Java 11+Solid experience with relational databases (MySQL and/or PostgreSQL)Strong understanding of software design principles & design patternsExperience working with event-driven architecturesExperience building RESTful APIs (JAX-RS, Dropwizard, Spring Boot or similar)Experience with automated testing (unit & integration)Comfortable working in agile development teamsNice to HaveAWS (EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, Kinesis, DynamoDB)Docker & containerised workloadsNoSQL database experienceTo apply for the role or for more information get in touch with the team at Ovyo at talent@
