Lead Platform Engineer (with Product Ownership)

Role OverviewWe are looking for a hands-on Lead Platform Engineer who can architect, build, and scale our AI-driven application development platform, while also thinking like a Product Owner. This role is focused on owning outcomes end-to-end—from defining workflows to delivering scalable systems.You will work at the intersection of platform engineering, AI-powered development, and product thinking, helping shape how modern applications are built using Specification-Driven Development (SDD).Key ResponsibilitiesPlatform EngineeringDesign and build scalable platform architecture for AI-driven application developmentOwn CI/CD pipelines, automation workflows, and developer toolingBuild and manage integrations with Azure DevOps and GitHubDevelop backend services using Core and ABP FrameworkDesign and implement APIs using REST and/or GraphQLEnable multi-tenant SaaS architecture and ensure scalability, performance, and securityDrive DevOps and DevSecOps practices across the platformAI and AutomationIntegrate AI capabilities into the software development lifecycle (LLMs, agents, copilots)Build workflows such as Spec → Plan → Tasks → Code → DeployCollaborate with AI engineers to enable agent-based development flowsProduct Ownership ResponsibilitiesAct as a technical Product Owner for platform capabilitiesDefine platform features, developer workflows, and user storiesTranslate product vision into clear technical execution plansPrioritize backlog based on impact, feasibility, and timelinesWork closely with product, design, and leadership teamsHands-On EngineeringActively contribute to the codebaseMentor developers and enforce engineering best practicesConduct code reviews and ensure high-quality deliveryDeveloper Experience (DX)Build internal tools, SDKs, and CLI utilitiesImprove developer onboarding and productivityDrive standardization through specifications and reusable componentsRequired Skills and Experience4–8+ years of software engineering experienceStrong hands-on expertise in .NET / CoreExperience with React or modern frontend frameworksProven experience building platforms, frameworks, or reusable systemsStrong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesExperience working with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)Good understanding of microservices or modular architecture QualificationsStrong experience in Software Development and Programming with proficiency in high-level languages.Proven expertise in Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues efficiently.Hands-on experience managing and designing robust Infrastructure and scalable solutions.Proficiency in managing Databases, including querying, schema design, and optimization.Excellent leadership skills and the ability to take end-to-end ownership of technical projects.Experience working with Microsoft technologies, cloud ecosystems, and automation tools.Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a focus on achieving business outcomes.Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.Product Mindset (Important)Ability to think beyond code and understand user journeysExperience writing user stories, technical specifications, and managing backlogsStrong decision-making ability on feature prioritizationGood to HaveExperience with AI/LLMs, copilots, or AI-assisted development toolsExposure to design systems and Figma-to-code workflowsFamiliarity with specification-driven or model-driven developmentExperience building enterprise SaaS platformsEducationBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related fieldCandidates from IITs or Tier-1 institutes preferredWhy Join UsAt wai technologies, you will be part of building a next-generation AI-powered application development platform that focuses on structure, speed, and scalability.
