The role requires deep expertise in Indian land laws, government body coordination, stakeholder management, and end-to-end acquisition processes to ensure timely availability of encumbrance-free land in line with project schedules.Job Description As Land Acquisitions Specialist, in the Road/Highway projects team, you wil be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of land acquisitions for the Road / Highway projects. This includes planning, coordinating, and executing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring land, resources and coordinating with team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliverproject according to plan.ResponsibilityYou will be responsible for acquiring encumbrance free land for the project, alongwith strategic planning and project execution support, leadership and team management. Your key responsibilities include:Strategic & Planning ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement comprehensive land acquisition strategies aligned with project timelines, budgets and statutory requirements.Identify potential land-related risks and formulate mitigation measures to avoid project delays.Legal & Statutory ComplianceEnsure compliance with applicable land acquisition laws, including:The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act (RFCTLARR), 2013National Highways Act, 1956 (where applicable)State-specific land acquisition and rehabilitation policiesReview and coordinate preparation of notifications, awards, consent awards, and compensation packages.Liaise with legal teams to handle disputes, litigations, objections, and court cases related to land acquisition.Government & Stakeholder CoordinationAct as the primary interface with government authorities such as:District Collectors / Land Acquisition OfficersRevenue, Forest, and Survey DepartmentsNHAI / MoRTH / State PWD authoritiesManage relationships with local administrations, elected representatives, village councils, and community leaders.Lead negotiations with landowners and affected parties to facilitate smooth and timely acquisition.Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R)Oversee implementation of R&R activities as per statutory and project requirements.Ensure timely disbursement of compensation and assistance to Project Affected Families (PAFs).Address grievances related to land acquisition and R&R through structured grievance redressal mechanisms.Key InteractionsAct as the primary interface with government authorities such as:District Collectors / Land Acquisition OfficersRevenue, Forest, and Survey DepartmentsNHAI / MoRTH / State PWD authoritiesManage relationships with local administrations, elected representatives, village councils, and community leaders.Lead negotiations with landowners and affected parties to facilitate smooth and timely acquisition.Relevant Work ExperienceMinimum 15-20 years in land acquisition, preferably in large-scale highway, infrastructure, or linear projectsExperience with NHAI, MoRTH, State PWD, or large EPC/concessionaire organizationsPrior involvement in multi-state highway or expressway projectsExperience in handling large-scale land acquisition (500+ hectares) Relevant IndustryConstruction, Roads, Highways, Tunnelling, EPC Organisations Education – SpecializationBachelors degree in Law, Civil Engineering, Town Planning, Public Administration, or related disciplineMaster’s degree or professional certification in Land Management / Infrastructure Planning / Law is preferredLanguage ProficiencyEnglish, Marathi and HindiCertificationsNASkill SetsStrong understanding of Indian land acquisition laws and procedures of highway and linear infrastructure project requirementsExcellent negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution skillsProven ability to manage government relations and multi-stakeholder environmentsStrong leadership and decision-making capabilitiesHigh level of integrity, diplomacy, and cultural sensitivity
