As a growing scientific communications agency, we are seeking a driven leader (who will be designated as Manager, Quality and Training) to take on this pivotal role that spearheads the training and development of budding writers transitioning into medical communications. Responsibilities encompass crafting an intensive onboarding program, offering comprehensive feedback on deliverables across Med Comms, Med Info and publications, ensuring timely completion of training, and driving ongoing skill enhancement.Please note: We are a remote-first organization, and we embrace an /"accelerate from anywhere culture/". You may be required to travel based on business requirements or for company/team events.ResponsibilitiesTrain and prepare new writers with no prior medical communications experience to work in a high-performance team via an intensive onboarding program aimed at developing both core writing and soft skills necessary to be successful as a scientific writer in a fast-paced agencyHelp trainees understand client needs and expectations from agency medical writers to facilitate their transition from academia to a career in medical communicationsReview and provide detailed feedback on writing different types of publications and/or medcomms deliverablesEnsure trainees complete the onboarding training program (internal and external) in a timely manner while meeting training benchmarksOngoing skill development for the writing team based on client and internal reviewer feedback and evolving industry and business needsTranslate client feedback to training requirementsPlan and execute annual training plans based on needs assessmentsDevelop new training modules or refresh existing contentEquip team to handle new project typesTrain new reviewers and quality managersDevelop training content and deliver webinars for pharma medical affairs teams and sales force based on sponsor requirementsSupport career progression plans through skill buildingSupport client stakeholders in driving quality management activities and programsQualifications And PrerequisitesMD/PhD or similar advanced degree; ISMPP CMPPTM certification or willingness to undergo certificationAt least 5+ years of core writing experience in medical communications and publications within a pharmaceutical company or medical communications agencyReviewing expertise across therapy areas and document typesDemonstrated experience and strong interest in training and coaching trainee scientific writers to successfully transition from academic research or clinical fields into a career in medical communicationsEntrepreneurial mindset to be able to identify, decipher, and address evolving people development needs, without prior experience or reference pointsAbility to use a healthy mix of nurturing feedback and hard metrics to drive training outcomes as well as providing clear critical developmental feedback when neededStrong editorial skills with a keen eye for detail and exceptional time management skillsExcellent spoken and written EnglishVery strong quality focus in all aspects of work; experience with managing team quality will be a bonusDeep understanding of all aspects of medical communications and current with industry developments - experience with medcomms and medical information will be a bonusExperience in developing training curricula, instructional design, or e-learning content will be an added advantageAbility to work effectively with cross-culture teams spread across different time zonesApplication ProcessBefore applying, please ensure you meet the role requirements listed above and have legal authorization to work in the country where this role is advertised.
