Automation Engineer

Day to day:Insight Global is looking for a Cloud Database Platform Automation Engineer for a global consulting firm. This person will be a Hands-on individual contributor responsible for building and standardizing Terraform-based, self-service database platform capabilities across AWS, Azure, and GCP. This role is focused on execution – taking defined requirements and delivering clean, production-ready automation with minimal overhead. Responsibilities:Build and standardize Terraform modules for database platforms across AWS, Azure, GCPRefactor existing modules into consistent, reusable, and maintainable patternsEnable self-service infrastructure aligned with their ecosystem (Terraform Cloud, OIDC)Embed security, IAM, and networking standards directly into modulesImplement GitHub Actions pipelines for CI/CD, validation, and releasesApply versioning and module lifecycle practicesDrive automation to reduce manual provisioning and operationsWork with cloud, networking, security, and identity teams to integrate dependenciesSupport database platform offerings; support data engineering tooling automation (Airflow, Glue) where relevantProvide clear updates, documentation, and delivery transparency Must haves: Strong hands-on experience building Terraform modules (module development, not just usage)Comfortable working directly in code, pipelines, and debugging issues end-to-endExperience AWS (Azure/GCP is a plus)Familiarity with Terraform Cloud (TFC), OIDC, Experienced in CI/CD (GitHub Actions or similar) and automation workflows.Experience building reusable, self-service infrastructure modules with built-in standardsFamiliarity with Python or scripting for lightweight automation where neededWorking knowledge of managed Database servicesAbility to take requirements, execute independently, and communicate progress clearly Plusses:Exposure to data engineering tools (Airflow, Glue, or similar data engineering tools)
