Senior Merchandiser (Spiritual Handicrafts)

About the Role We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Senior Merchandiser to join our handicrafts division (Indian Stories ). This person will act as the bridge between our customers, product designers, vendors, and merchandising team , ensuring smooth development and delivery of spiritual and wellness products such as copper bottles, incense holders, meditation cushions, and spiritual jewellery. The Senior Merchandiser will lead a small team of merchandisers, manage vendor relationships, and take ownership of customer requirements from start to finish. Key Responsibilities Customer & Market Understand customer briefs and translate them into clear product requirements. Communicate directly with buyers to ensure transparency on timelines, sampling, and approvals. Collaborate with sales to support new customer acquisition and onboarding. Product Development Work closely with the Product Designer to align customer needs with new concepts, bundles, and collections. Manage sampling, prototyping, and approvals with vendors. Monitor quality standards and ensure products meet customer and brand expectations. Vendor & Supply Chain Handle vendor negotiations, pricing discussions, and production capacity planning. Resolve production delays, quality issues, and vendor disputes. Expand and qualify the vendor base for new product opportunities. Team Leadership Supervise two merchandisers, guide them on follow-ups, and delegate operational tasks. Ensure the team works efficiently and timelines are consistently met. Train team members in communication and customer handling. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Design, Merchandising, or related field. 4–7 years of experience in merchandising, sourcing, or product development (handicrafts, lifestyle, or wellness preferred). Strong customer communication skills (both written and spoken). Knowledge of materials such as copper, brass, fabric, and wood. Vendor management experience with artisans/manufacturers. Ability to lead and mentor a small team. Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple projects.
