Job Description:

1. Property Underwriting- Evaluate risks for Property (Fire, Engineering, Burglary, and Allied Perils) for mid‑corporate and large clients. - Analyze proposals and conduct site inspections when required to determine coverage, terms, and pricing. - Ensure underwriting decisions comply with internal guidelines, regulatory norms, and reinsurance treaties. - Manage and monitor the profitability of the Property portfolio, identifying trends and corrective actions.2. SME Underwriting- Assess risks for small and medium enterprise products across standard fire, engineering, and business packages. - Review documentation, evaluate risk exposures, and recommend suitable coverage parameters. - Ensure quick turnaround for channel partners while maintaining underwriting quality and consistency. - Track SME portfolio performance, loss ratios, and suggest enhancements to product or underwriting processes.3. Cross‑Functional Collaboration- Work closely with Sales, Claims, Operations, and Reinsurance teams to ensure accurate policy issuance and effective servicing. - Support intermediaries, brokers, and channel partners with technical underwriting guidance. - Participate in joint client meetings or risk inspections as needed.4. Compliance & Documentation- Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready underwriting documentation. - Ensure adherence to IRDAI regulations, internal policies, and company underwriting standards. - Keep abreast of regulatory and market developments impacting both Property and SME portfolios.5. Team Leadership & Capability Building- Mentor junior underwriters and provide continuous technical support. - Conduct training sessions to strengthen knowledge within the team and across business channels. - Promote best underwriting practices and contribute to process improvement initiatives.Qualifications & Experience- Graduate/Postgraduate in Insurance, Risk Management, or a related discipline. - 8–10 years of proven experience in Property and/or SME underwriting. - Strong technical knowledge of Fire, Engineering, Burglary, and allied lines of business. - Experience with underwriting tools, risk inspection methodologies, and regulatory frameworks.Skills & Competencies- Strong analytical aptitude with sound decision-making ability. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. - Proficiency in MS Office and underwriting software systems. - Ability to work independently and manage regional underwriting operations efficiently.
