About the Department Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. Key Responsibilities The Media and Public Relations Lead will be responsible for shaping and driving the organization’s media engagement strategy to build a positive, credible, and consistent public image aligned with its investment promotion mandate. The role involves leading proactive and reactive media relations, managing official spokesperson duties, and collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders—including journalists, public policy influencers, and industry leaders—to maintain a supportive narrative for the organization’s initiatives and outcomes. Develop and implement a comprehensive media and public relations strategy aligned with the organization’s strategic goals and brand objectives. Build and sustain strong relationships with key national, international, and regional media outlets, editors, and journalists. Identify opportunities for positive media coverage, thought leadership, and opinion placements to strengthen the organization’s credibility. Lead crisis communication and reputation management efforts. Ensure consistent, high-quality messaging across all media interactions, press materials, and public statements. Oversee drafting of press releases, media briefs, op-eds, FAQs, and talking points for senior leadership. Collaborate with internal departments to surface impactful stories, achievements, and data-driven insights for media visibility. Engage with public policy stakeholders, industry associations, and think tanks to shape narratives around investment opportunities and policy reforms. Track, analyze, and report media coverage and sentiment to inform communications strategy. Maintain a database of key media contacts and ensure regular relationship nurturing. Prepare periodic media performance reports and insights for leadership. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. 10–15 years of progressive experience in media relations, public affairs, or corporate communications—preferably in government, public policy, or investment promotion domains. Demonstrated experience in managing media crises, public narratives, and large-scale communication initiatives. Strong relationships with business and policy media networks. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to handle complex, sensitive information with discretion and professionalism Deep understanding of India’s economic and policy landscape. Experience engaging with government ministries, industry bodies, or international media.
