Entra ID Engineer

Role Purpose:As a Level 3 Engineer, you are the technical backbone for enterprise managed services, specializing in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). You resolve complex incidents, design and execute high-impact configuration changes, and drive automation across identity lifecycle and governance. You have working exposure to AI frameworks to enhance operations (predictive monitoring, anomaly detection) and you own BAU activities, documentation, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Advanced Incident & Problem Management: Resolve escalated L3 incidents for Entra ID, identity governance and access; lead RCA and implement permanent fixes. Request & Change Management: Execute privileged configuration changes (Global Admin, Conditional Access, RBAC); adhere to approval workflows and change governance. Automation & Scripting: Build and maintain PowerShell/Runbook automation for joiner–mover–leaver, access reviews, group hygiene, compliance checks; integrate with ITSM (ServiceNow) and CI/CD (Azure DevOps, Terraform). AI & Innovation: Evaluate and apply AI/ML (Azure AI, Copilot) for predictive monitoring, anomaly detection and ticket triage; contribute to operational accelerators. BAU Operations: Monitor service health dashboards and scheduled jobs; perform hygiene tasks (orphan accounts, stale groups, service principals), periodic access reviews and audit evidence collection. Security & Compliance: Implement data protection and identity policies (MFA, AIP, Conditional Access), key management and Secrets rotation; support audits and controls. Documentation & Knowledge: Author SOPs, FAQs, runbooks and architecture notes; mentor L1/L2 engineers. Continuous Improvement: Identify efficiency gains, reduce manual BAU through automation, propose guardrails and patterns; track benefits. Required Skills & Experience Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD): Deep hands-on with tenants, RBAC, Conditional Access, Identity Protection, App Registrations/SPNs and API permissions. Automation: Strong PowerShell, Azure Automation/Runbooks; exposure to Terraform/ARM for identity-related IaC. AI Frameworks: Practical understanding of Azure AI/Copilot concepts; experience applying AI to ops (e.g., anomaly detection, summarization). Service Management: ITIL Incident/Change/Problem; enterprise managed services experience using ServiceNow or similar. Security & Compliance: Familiarity with AIP/Defender, audit controls, evidence management and policy baselines. Soft Skills: Analytical troubleshooting, clear communication, stakeholder handling, and mentoring mindset. Preferred Certifications Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer / Solutions Architect ITIL Foundation Microsoft AI Fundamentals (or equivalent) Key Metrics SLA compliance for L3 incidents/changes and audit controls. Reduction of manual BAU via automation (% tasks automated). Operational stability: failed jobs reduced, MTTR improved.
