CMDB/CSDM Specialist

We are seeking a ServiceNow CSDM Data Modeler to support design, implementation, and governance of the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) within the ServiceNow platform as part of a new project. This role will work closely with the CMDB Manager and Architect and platform leadership to operationalize CSDM standards and ensure consistent, high-quality data across the platform. It also includes the migration to Lifecycle Status/Stages and the addressing the removal of legacy customizations called “Situations” and designing a more OOB process.This is a hands-on, execution-focused role responsible for building and maintaining data models, relationships, and service mappings best practices and operational process—not owning overall platform architecture.Key ResponsibilitiesExecute and maintain CSDM data models and CI relationships aligned to standards defined by the CMDB ArchitectSupport the implementation of service mapping structures across business services, technical services, and application layersDefine and apply and enforce data standards, naming conventions, and class structures within the CMDBPartner with developers and integration teams to ensure accurate data ingestion, transformation, and mappingAssist in data normalization and reconciliation activities using IRE rules and governance frameworksPerform data quality reviews, identify gaps, and support remediation effortsMaintain documentation of data models, relationships, and mapping logicParticipate in governance checkpoints to ensure new enhancements align to CSDM standardsSupport ongoing CMDB maturity initiatives (data cleanup, attribute alignment, relationship accuracy)Conversion from legacy Install Status, Operational Status and Hardware to CSDM Lifecycle Status/StatusWhat This Role Does NOT OwnDoes not define platform architecture or long-term CSDM strategyDoes not replace or duplicate the responsibilities of the CMDB ArchitectFocuses on execution, implementation, and data quality—not architecture ownershipRequired Qualifications8+ years of experience with ServiceNow CMDB and data modelingWorking knowledge of CSDM framework and CI relationshipsExperience with data normalization, reconciliation (IRE), and data governance practicesFamiliarity with Service Mapping, Discovery, and integrationsStrong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and consistencyAbility to work collaboratively with architects, developers, and functional teamsPreferred QualificationsServiceNow certifications (CSA, CIS-CMDB preferred)Experience supporting CMDB data cleanup or transformation initiativesExposure to enterprise integrations (Flexera, CrowdStrike, etc.)Understanding of ITIL and service-based data structuresDiscovery and Service Mapping experienceKey Success MetricsImproved data quality, completeness, and consistency within CMDBIncreased adoption of CSDM standards across development teamsReduction in data duplication and reconciliation conflictsAccurate and scalable service-to-CI relationshipsOOB Solution for “Situations” for incident managementPositioning SummaryThis role acts as the execution arm of CSDM, translating architectural standards into clean, reliable, and governed data within the platform.
