About the Department Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.Key Responsibilities The role focuses on identifying issues faced by startups and the wider startup ecosystem, including incubators, investors, accelerators and other partners. The person will work with government departments to resolve these issues, lead consultations, prepare policy inputs, track regulatory developments and ensure that Startup India has a strong and informed voice in all key policy discussions.1. Policy Strategy and Issue Identification: Track challenges faced by startups, incubators, investors and ecosystem partners. Build a clear policy agenda to address important regulatory and operational bottlenecks. 2. Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with ministries, regulators, industry bodies, incubators and founders to gather feedback, discuss issues and push practical solutions. 3. Drafting Notes and Policy Inputs: Prepare issue notes, recommendations, briefing documents and consultation responses. Ensure all inputs are clear, practical and based on real ecosystem needs. 4. Regulatory Tracking and Analysis: Monitor government notifications, regulations and policy changes. Explain their impact on startups and ecosystem partners and advise on necessary actions. 5. Consultations and Working Groups: Lead meetings, roundtables and working groups with stakeholders. Capture feedback accurately and convert it into structured recommendations. 6. Program Support: Support Startup India programs that require policy alignment, such as funding schemes, incentives, ease of doing business and new initiatives. 7. Internal Coordination and Leadership: Work with internal teams, guide associates and ensure timely and high quality delivery of all policy work. 8. Representation and Advocacy: Represent Startup India in meetings with ministries, regulators and industry groups. Present clear and well prepared positions on issueQualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Policy, Law, Economics, Business or related fields - 8+ years of experience in public policy, regulatory affairs, government consulting or ecosystem facing roles - Strong writing and analytical skills with the ability to simplify complex regulatory topics - Comfortable engaging with senior officials and external stakeholders - Good understanding of the Indian startup ecosystem and regulatory environment - Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and drive outcomes
