About the RoleThe Database Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing high-performance and scalable databases. This role ensures that the database architecture aligns with the business requirements, ensures high availability, and maintains security and data integrity. The Database Architect collaborates with IT teams to optimize database performance and implement data solutions that support business growth. Key Expectations Lead the design and implementation of robust and scalable database architectures. Ensure the availability, security, and performance of enterprise-level databases. Stay current with evolving database technologies and provide thought leadership. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align database solutions with business needs. Key Responsibilities Database Design & Architecture Design scalable, reliable, and high-performance database systems that align with business needs. Implement and maintain complex database structures, including data warehousing and big data solutions. Collaborate with system architects and developers to ensure seamless integration of database solutions. Performance & Scalability Ensure optimal performance and scalability of databases, handling large volumes of transactions. Lead the design and execution of database performance tuning and troubleshooting initiatives. Implement and manage indexing, caching, and partitioning strategies to optimize database performance. Security & Data Integrity Design and implement database security measures, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and corporate policies. Ensure data integrity by applying effective backup and disaster recovery strategies. Perform regular audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities. Team Leadership & Mentorship Lead and mentor junior database engineers and architects, providing guidance and career development opportunities. Conduct training sessions on new database technologies and best practices. Provide technical leadership in database architecture discussions and decision-making. Required SkillsTechnical Skills Minimum 12+ years of total experience, including minimum 3+ years of architect level experienceAdvanced knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) like Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and NoSQL databases. Experience with cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database). Proficiency in SQL and database optimization techniques. Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and big data architectures. Expertise in database security, backup, and disaster recovery strategies. Soft Skills Strong leadership, mentoring, and team collaboration skills. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong problem-solving capabilities and decision-making skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
