Job DescriptionRole: Playwright Automation EngineerExperience: 1–3 Years Employment Type: Full-Time---Role SummaryWe are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test – I (SDET I) who is passionate about quality engineering and test automation. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in programming and hands-on experience with Playwright using TypeScript or JavaScript and is eager to grow as an automation engineer.As an SDET I, you will work closely with developers, product managers, and senior QA engineers to help ensure high-quality software delivery. You will contribute to building and maintaining automated UI and API test solutions, run test suites as part of CI/CD pipelines, and learn modern testing practices while working on real-world web applications.This role offers strong learning, mentorship, and growth opportunities within a collaborative engineering environment.---Key ResponsibilitiesTest Automation & Framework Contribution· Develop and maintain automated UI and API test scripts using Playwright with TypeScript· Contribute to expanding test coverage across functional, regression, and smoke tests· Assist in enhancing existing test automation frameworks by:o Using reusable test utilities and helperso Working with custom fixtures and test datao Maintaining configuration and environment handling· Follow best practices to write clean, readable, and maintainable test code· Execute automated test suites and help identify test gaps---Modern Testing Practices· Apply modern testing concepts such as:o Reliable selector strategieso Clear and meaningful assertionso Proper waits and synchronization· Debug and troubleshoot test failures· Collaborate with developers and senior QA members to help identify and report defects early---API Testing· Validate REST API functionality using:o Playwright’s APIRequestContexto Tools such as Postman for exploratory API testing· Verify API responses including status codes, headers, and payloads· Assist in creating and maintaining automated API test cases---CI/CD Awareness· Run automated test suites as part of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)· Assist in investigating pipeline failures and test execution issues· Learn how test automation integrates into build and deployment workflows---Web & UI Fundamentals· Work with modern web applications built using HTML, CSS, and DOM· Understand basic client-side behaviour to write more stable UI tests· Gain exposure to responsive or cross-browser UI testing---Collaboration & Agile Practices· Participate in Agile/Scrum activities such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support quality throughout the development lifecycle· Maintain test automation code using Git-based version control---Required Skills & QualificationsExperience & Technical Skills· 1–3 years of experience in test automation or quality engineering· Hands-on experience with Playwright using JavaScript or TypeScript· Understanding of core programming concepts, including:o Basic Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)o Control flow and data structureso Debugging and exception handling· Experience with UI and API test automation· Working knowledge of REST APIs and HTTP fundamentals· Basic familiarity with CI/CD concepts· Experience using Git for version control---Testing Knowledge· Understanding of test design techniques and automation best practices· Ability to analyse test failures and report issues clearly· Familiarity with automation concepts such as:o Page Object Model (POM)o Fixtures and reusable test components---Soft Skills & Mindset· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills· Good communication and collaboration abilities· Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
