The organization is transitioning from pilot and demonstration systems into large-scale commercial deployment, with a strong emphasis on engineering excellence, sustainability, and cost-efficient manufacturing of advanced electrochemical systems.Electrolyzer Manufacturing LeadBased in MumbaiAbout the roleThis role is responsible for leading the industrialization of a novel hardware platform, transitioning from one-off prototype builds into scalable, repeatable commercial production. The Manufacturing Lead will play a critical role in driving cost reduction, improving manufacturability, and establishing a robust global supply chain.Operating initially as an individual contributor, the role will evolve into a leadership position as production scales. It requires a hands-on, technically strong individual who can bridge engineering design and manufacturing execution, while working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, startup environment.Responsibilities:Lead the transition from prototype and demonstration builds to scalable, serialized commercial production Drive significant cost reduction through design-for-manufacturing (DFM), material optimization, and process improvements Collaborate with engineering teams to redesign components and systems for manufacturability, durability, and cost efficiency Develop detailed cost models and identify structural cost-saving opportunities across materials, processes, and logistics Establish and manage global supply chain, including vendor selection, qualification, negotiation, and performance management Oversee manufacturing of complex, multi-material assemblies (e.g., metals, thermoplastics, elastomers, coated components) Improve manufacturing workflows, quality assurance/control standards, and inspection processes Define and implement outsourcing versus in-house manufacturing strategies Support production scaling through close coordination with manufacturing partners and project sites globally Travel to domestic and international manufacturing locations as required Build and develop the manufacturing team as production volume increasesRequirements:Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related discipline Minimum 7 years of experience scaling complex hardware systems into commercial production Proven track record in achieving significant cost reductions in multi-component systems Strong expertise in manufacturing processes such as machining, forming, injection molding, laser cutting, and related methods Deep knowledge of materials including corrosion-resistant metals, thermoplastics, and structural assemblies Experience applying design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles and cost optimization strategies Experience in supplier selection, qualification, and global supply chain management Strong capabilities in cost modelling, yield analysis, and process optimization Comfortable operating in a hands-on, fast-paced startup environment Willingness to travel internationallyNice-to-haves:Experience in electrochemical systems, energy hardware, water systems, or chemical process equipmentExperience with electroplating and surface treatment processesFamiliarity with corrosion-resistant coatings and harsh-environment systemsExperience implementing lean manufacturing or continuous improvement systemsPrior startup or deep-tech scale-up experienceExperience building and leading manufacturing teamsOnly shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
