Hiring: Senior Operations Engineer – DWDM / Optical Network PerformanceLocation: Only Mumbai (Navi Mumbai)Experience: 7.5 – 14 YearsDomain: DWDM / Optical Transport / Network OperationsRole OverviewWe are looking for a seasoned Operations Engineer – Optical Network Performance to support and enhance large-scale DWDM transport networks.The role requires strong troubleshooting expertise, hands-on experience with multi-vendor optical platforms, and the ability to drive network performance improvement initiatives across production environments.This position will work closely with NCC, TAC, Field Teams, and OEM Vendors to ensure high network availability, service reliability, and proactive fault prevention.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics on DWDM / Optical transport networksInvestigate complex, intermittent, and service-impacting issuesExecute remote testing and coordinate field testing (on-net and off-net circuits)Create, review, and implement maintenance requests (including after-hours activities)Coordinate with field technicians for fault isolation and restorationWork closely with NCC and TAC to ensure health of priority and backbone circuitsTrack incidents, provide structured ticket updates, and drive RCA closurePerform network performance analysis and trend monitoringIdentify recurring issues and recommend permanent fixesRun scripts and automate repetitive network checksIdentify automation opportunities and document requirements for development teamsInterface with OEM vendors (Ciena, Infinera, Nokia/Alcatel, etc.) for escalationsParticipate in customer meetings when requiredRequired Technical SkillsStrong hands-on experience in DWDM / Optical Transport NetworksMinimum:5+ years troubleshooting DWDM networks3+ years in Network Operations / NOC / Performance roleExperience on at least one of the following platforms:Ciena 6500Infinera (DTN / XTM series)Nokia / Alcatel-Lucent 1830 PSS-32 / PSS-16Solid understanding of:OTN / ROADM / Amplifiers / Optical Power & OSNRFiber impairments and performance monitoringIncident Management & RCA processesExperience in automation / scripting (Python, Shell, or similar) is a strong plusExposure to multi-vendor environmentsFiber field experience is an advantagePreferred CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage high-severity outages calmlyExperience driving technical improvement projectsStrong documentation and communication skillsFlexible to support after-hours maintenance windowsExperience collaborating with cross-functional global teams
