Head of Engineering-Trade Supply Chain Finance

Location: India – MumbaiRole: EVP/SVP– Engineering & Delivery Head (Trade Finance Platforms)Experience: 23+ YearsRole OverviewWe are hiring a senior engineering and delivery leader to build and scale next-generation Trade Finance and Supply Chain Finance platforms. The role requires a hands-on technology leader with a strong track record in enterprise product engineering, large-scale delivery, and modernization programs across global banks.This mandate sits at the intersection of technology + product + global delivery. The leader will anchor the platform roadmap, engineering excellence, modernization, and predictable high-quality delivery across Tier-1 banking clients.Key Responsibilities1. Engineering & Architecture LeadershipLead and mentor large high-performing engineering teams across Backend, Frontend, DevOps, QA, SRE, Data & Cloud.Review and guide architecture decisions, high-risk code areas, and performance bottlenecks.Institutionalize engineering excellence — clean code, DevSecOps, SRE, observability, performance, scalability, and VAPT.2. Product & Platform OwnershipOwn the technology roadmap for the Trade Finance stack — SCF, LC/BG, Documentary Collections, Open Account, Trade Operations, and Digital Trade Ecosystems.Architect microservices-based, event-driven, API-first platforms designed for configurability and scale.Build solutions adhering to strict risk, compliance, and security benchmarks of global banks.3. Delivery Governance & Client SuccessEnd-to-end delivery responsibility across multiple programs and global markets.Define predictable delivery governance — release cadence, velocity, throughput, defect density, and production stability.Act as a senior delivery escalation and decision-making authority with CXO/client leadership.4. Platform Modernization & TransformationLead migrations from legacy Trade core systems to cloud-native microservices and containerized deployments.Deep experience in core banking, lending, payments, SWIFT connectivity, and trade document workflows.Re-engineer flows to improve STP, digitization, operational efficiency, and integration readiness.5. AI-Enabled Engineering & ProductivityImplement GenAI-enabled engineering frameworks (Copilot, Cursor, Tabnine, ChatGPT etc.) to accelerate development and automation.Promote AI-assisted testing, documentation, code reviews, and regression.Integrate ML/AI models for anomaly detection, compliance validation, invoice risk evaluation, automated underwriting, and supply-chain risk scoring.Qualifications & Experience23+ years in product engineering, with 10+ years leading large technology and delivery organizations in BFSI / Trade Finance.Demonstrated success building mission-critical, scalable, low-latency banking platforms.Deep hands-on experience in Java + microservices + distributed systems. Exposure to Python/C++ preferred.Proven platform modernization experience — cloud, Kubernetes/Docker, streaming (Kafka/Pulsar), event sourcing.Strong domain depth in Trade Finance, SCF, Open Account, LC/BG, Payments & Transaction Banking.Managed engineering ecosystems of 500+ directly or through matrix org structures.Strong stakeholder management with Product, Business, Risk, Operations & Global Client Leaders.Leadership AttributesHigh-ownership execution leader with predictable delivery and strong rigor.Ability to scale teams, processes and platforms during rapid growth and transformation.Operates with urgency, hands-on problem solving and extreme accountability.Clear, transparent communicator who builds trust and alignment across global teams.Why this role is criticalTrade & SCF are undergoing rapid modernization across global markets.
