HIRING: SELLER ONBOARDING MANAGER Location: Mumbai | Experience: 5-8 Years | Immediate Joiners PreferredABOUT GAJAB GAJAB is India's first AI-powered bargaining marketplace recreating traditional bazaar culture digitally. We are building for tier 2/3 India families earning Rs 15-50K monthly, targeting 100 Cr GMV through 20 lakh annual orders. As a bootstrapped startup with 25+ people operating from Marol, Andheri East, Mumbai, we are in an active scaling phase with a mission to preserve and digitize India's bargaining and bazaar culture.THE ROLE We are launching our Home, Kitchen & Decor and Toys & Games categories from zero and need a Senior Seller Onboarding Manager to build our seller ecosystem from scratch. This is a high-ownership role requiring 3-4 days of field work weekly across West India (Maharashtra and Gujarat), meeting existing ecommerce sellers and bringing them onboard. You will start as an individual contributor and scale to managing a team of 2-3 coordinators within 6 months as volumes grow.WHAT YOU WILL DOSeller Acquisition (50% of time) Source and acquire 30-60 existing ecommerce sellers per month from platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, Shopsy, Instagram/Facebook stores, and independent websites Execute multi-channel acquisition strategy including direct outreach, platform identification, seller community engagement, trade fair participation, referral programs, and physical field visits to seller warehouses Pitch GAJAB's unique value propositions: bargaining feature enabling better margins, less competition and better visibility, dedicated seller support, early mover growth opportunity, and fast 2-3 day onboarding process Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of seller leads with clear conversion tracking from first contact to go-live Travel 3-4 days per week across Maharashtra and Gujarat for physical seller meetings, with remaining days in Mumbai office for coordination and approvalsOnboarding Operations (30% of time) Execute fast-track 2-3 day onboarding process from documentation to go-live Collect and verify mandatory documents: PAN card, Aadhaar card, GST certificate, bank account details, business address proof, and owner identification Provide assisted catalog setup for first batch of products, helping sellers with bulk upload templates, image optimization, and product descriptions Conduct manual quality control and approval of all product listings before they go live on platform Enforce quality standards including no counterfeits or banned items, clear product images with proper white background, accurate titles and descriptions, competitive pricing, and products suitable for bargaining Define and continuously improve the quality framework, approval processes, and rejection criteria as you scale operationsSeller Enablement (10% of time) Conduct one-time 30-45 minute onboarding training covering basic platform mechanics for uploading products, managing orders, and updating inventory Train sellers on optimizing the bargaining feature: setting negotiation ranges, responding to customer offers, and maximizing conversions through strategic pricing Provide content quality guidance on product photography basics and writing descriptions that convertFirst 30 Days Support (10% of time) Provide intensive hand-holding and support during seller's first month on platform Be the primary point of contact for resolving issues, answering questions, and troubleshooting problems Monitor seller activity, product performance, and early sales to ensure smooth ramp-up After 30 days, transition sellers to standard support channels while remaining available for escalationsSystems & Process Building Identify and implement tools and systems needed for seller onboarding operations including CRM, seller management dashboard, communication templates, catalog management tools, documentation repository, and performance dashboards Create SOPs, playbooks, and training materials to enable team scaling Document best practices, common seller objections and responses, and category-specific onboarding nuancesSUCCESS METRICS You will be measured on six primary KPIs: Onboarding Volume: Consistently onboard 30-60 sellers per month Seller Activation Rate: Percentage of onboarded sellers who list products within first week Quality of Sellers: Percentage of onboarded sellers who make their first sale within 30 days Catalog Quality: Product approval rate, rejection rate with reasons, and time taken for approvals Seller Retention: Percentage of sellers still actively listing and selling after 90 days Category Coverage: Breadth and depth of product assortment, identification and filling of gaps in sub-categoriesMUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS(Non-Negotiable) Proven experience working directly with ecommerce sellers from platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, or social commerce channels Demonstrated experience building onboarding systems and processes from scratch in a zero-to-one environment Startup experience having worked in companies with 50 people or less Immediate availability to join within 15-30 days maximum Currently based in Mumbai or willing to relocate to Mumbai immediately Based in West India region with understanding of Maharashtra and Gujarat marketsSTRONGLY PREFERRED(Major Plus Points) Specific experience in Home, Kitchen & Decor OR Toys & Games product categories Deep understanding of tier 2/3 city markets, customer behavior, and seller ecosystems outside metros Prior experience leading or managing a small team of even 2-3 people Existing network of seller contacts in West India region who can be tapped for quick wins Strong knowledge of product cataloging, quality standards, marketplace compliance, and content optimizationIMMEDIATE REJECTION CRITERIA(Red Flags) No field sales experience, uncomfortable with extensive travel, or preference for desk-only jobs Pure category management or product management background with no direct seller or vendor relationship experience Notice period longer than 60 days making it impossible to join quickly Not based in West India and completely unwilling to relocate to Mumbai immediately Poor communication skills in Hindi or English, unable to articulate thoughts clearly No startup
