For more information, visit Lowes IndiaAbout the TeamThe Senior Manager, Indirect Tax is responsible for leading the India-based indirect tax team and executing U.S. indirect tax processes under the direction of the U.S. Senior Indirect Tax Director. This role oversees day-to-day operations supporting sales and use tax point of sale, compliance, audits, appeals, licensing, tax accounting, and unclaimed property activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to established policies, procedures, and strategic direction.Job SummaryThe Senior Manager, Indirect Tax serves as a key operational control owner for indirect tax processes impacting U.S. retail and e-commerce operations, with accountability for execution quality, documentation, and audit readiness. The Senior Manager drives consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement across assigned processes while aligning closely with U.S. leadership on priorities, risks, and deliverables.Roles & ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilities•Lead and manage the India-based indirect tax team, providing operational oversight, workload management, coaching, and performance management in alignment with direction from the U.S. Senior Indirect Tax Director.•Execute U.S. indirect tax processes in accordance with established strategies, policies, and decisions set by U.S. Indirect Tax leadership.•Ensure timely and accurate completion of indirect tax compliance activities, including sales and use tax returns, unclaimed property filings, audit data support, licensing, and related tax accounting deliverables.•Oversee point-of-sale taxability assignments and exemption certificate processes to ensure accurate taxation across U.S. retail stores and e-commerce platforms.•Review work products prepared by the India-based team to ensure quality, completeness, and adherence to internal controls and SOX requirements prior to submission to U.S. leadership.•Serve as the primary operational liaison between the India team and U.S.-based Indirect Tax leadership, providing regular status updates, escalating issues, and executing corrective actions as directed.•Support U.S.-led audits and appeals by coordinating data extraction, documentation, and responses in accordance with guidance provided by U.S. Indirect Tax.•Coordinate with cross-functional partners including Accounting, Operations, IT, and Legal to obtain required data and resolve execution issues, escalating policy or judgment matters to U.S. leadership.•Direct execution of tax payments, fees, and licenses, including portal administration, jurisdiction maintenance, and payment processing, subject to U.S. approval requirements.•Oversee account reconciliation activities and preparation of supporting workpapers to ensure alignment with financial reporting and management review requirements.•Monitor state and local tax law developments and communicate potential impacts to U.S. Indirect Tax leadership; implement approved changes to processes and systems as directed.•Partner with U.S. Indirect Tax leadership to implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and standardization efforts.•Promote compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and internal control requirements across all activities supported by the team.Years of Experience 10+ years of experience in accounting, finance, business or related discipline RequiredExperience leading teams and managing operational delivery in a corporate or shared services environment. Required7-10 years of corporate or retail indirect tax experience, including US sales and use tax PreferredExperience working in a global delivery or shared services model supporting US based stakeholdersEducation Qualification & Certifications•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, finance, Business or a related discipline (required)•Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, Business Administration or related field (preferred)•CPA, CMI or equivalent professional certification (preferred)Required Skill Sets•Experience with Vertex 0 Series and indirect tax compliance systems•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an execution focused approach with problem solving skills•Process improvement, automation or project execution experience•Working knowledge of Alteryx or similar data analytics tools•Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with sensitive deadlines.
