About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Vice President level Technical Manager to join our Settlement team. The role involves leading the technical strategy, design, development and maintenance of our Settlement technology applications which are primarily built on the GLOSS platform with other supporting custom Nomura applications.Key Responsibilities:Provide technical leadership for the GLOSS teamDesign and implement robust and efficient technical solutions for complex settlement related business scenariosWork with SME s and Functional analysts to discuss technology solutions and check feasibility and viability of proposed solutionsWork closely with senior Operations Managers globally to suggest and socialize technical solutions and implementation plansAttend Global Prioritization calls, Program Steer cos and represent settlement technology in those meetingsGuide the development team with technical solutions, analyze solutions proposed by developers and team leaders and help choose the optimal pathWork with Global Tech counterparts to drive technological improvements and modernization initiatives in GLOSS engineering and development processManage relationships with Broadridge, Custodians, vendors and third-party service providersHelp troubleshoot complex GLOSS issues, suggest system performance improvements and provide updates on key releases and significant changesRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's/master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field15+ years of experience in financial technology, with at least 10 years focusing on International Settlement SystemsStrong hands-on technical expertise in GLOSS application build-out and maintenanceDeep understanding of GLOSS settlement processing systems, banking operations, and financial messagingExperience with modern technology stack including Java, Spring Framework, Oracle/MS-SQL databasesRequired Skills (Details):Hands on technical expertise in GLOSS development and maintenance with high familiarity in the following aspects: Events, Processing and Transactions (EVNT, PROC, TRAN), Server components (BMSG, BPROC, BTPRO), Settlement Instruction Processing (SETD), Configuring and implementing Depot and Nostro transfers (DTRN, NTRN)Delivery and receipt processing (DERE) with stock and cash position keepingFamiliarity with settlement instructions sent to SWIFT payments infrastructure (MT2*, MT5*)Knowledge or awareness of IS020022 initiative and implications for settlement systemsAwareness of settlement initiatives in Global Markets like T2S (Target2-securities for Europe, CSDR move to move to T+1 cycles, CSDR Penalty calculations etc.Experience in Programming & Development using Java, C, RDBMS (Stored Procedures), Unix and awareness of current software engineering CI/CD practicesExperience in managing small development teams and collaborating with Business Analysts and Operations stakeholdersNomura Leadership Behaviours:Leadership Behaviours Description ElementExploring Insights & VisionComprehensively analyse the nature of the problems we face and set our focus toward the future visionGather IntelligenceCreate a visionIdentify an issueMaking Strategic DecisionsAnalyse options and feasibility to resolve issues, in making judgments and recommendationsIdentify countermeasuresAssess feasibilityMake a judgmentInspiring Entrepreneurship in PeoplePromotes the vision and goals to others in such a way that inspires commitment and independent contributionsInfluenceInspireCommitElevating Organizational Capacity Maximize organizational productivity through leadership development and engagementHave an ownership in own developmentSupport other‘s growthEncourage organizational growthInclusionRespect diverse perspectives and promote psychological safety and the creation of a risk cultureFoster psychological safetyEncourage the active participation of all talentFoster a risk cultureWe are committed to providing equal opportunities throughout employment including in the recruitment, training and development of employees.
