Finance Lead (Finance Controller cum Deputy CFO – Commercial Heavy Role)Job Title: Finance Lead (Finance Controller – Commercial Heavy Role)Location: MumbaiReports to: Promoter / DirectorCTC Target: ₹50–60 LPA (Not more - Including 15% Variable)Seniority: Finance Controller level (not CFO)Role PurposeTo lead the commercial-facing finance function of the company, managing pricing, schemes, distributor interactions, and market-facing decisions while maintaining core financial discipline, controls, MIS, and reporting. This role is expected to be elevated internally over the next few years into a full-fledged Head of Finance role.Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial Finance (70%)- Own pricing strategy, margin management, scheme analysis, and claims validation. - Work closely with sales, distributors, and customers to resolve trade/commercial issues. - Drive commercial hygiene: discounting, credit notes, and collections follow-up. - Evaluate trade spends, ROI, and business impact of commercial programs. - Work with stockists/distributors on commercial processes and dispute resolution. - Provide visibility into market-level profitability, leakages, and inefficiencies.Core Finance (30%)- Own MIS, monthly reporting, and finance dashboards. - Coordinate month-end processes with promoters and accountant(s). - Maintain internal controls, governance, documentation discipline, and predictability. - Support budgeting, forecasting, and planning cycles. - Strengthen working capital discipline and finance systems.Candidate ProfileMust-Haves- Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred. - 12-22 years of experience in Finance / Commercial Finance roles. - Current / recent role as Finance Controller / Senior Manager – Finance / Commercial Finance Lead. - Strong experience in distributor-led businesses (FMCG, retail, food, pharma, etc.). - Ability to work closely with a conservative promoter who directly oversees finance. - Hands-on exposure to pricing, schemes, and distributor operations. - Strong MIS discipline, structured thinking, and stable career path. - Must be very stableGood-to-Haves- Exposure to Pharma or premium Consumer preferred - South Indian candidates currently based in Mumbai (promoter comfort). - Experience in promoter-led organizations. - Readiness to scale into a Head of Finance role within 2–3 years.Avoid- Candidates from beauty / cosmetics / personal care industry. - Over-senior CFO-level profiles. - Job hoppers with frequent moves. - Pure accounting profiles without commercial/market interaction.
