Subject Matter Expert- Work location – Mumbai , Pune Bangalore About the Role We are looking for an experiencedSubject Matter Expert (SME)to support our project in its ongoing digital transformation and operational excellence initiatives. This role blends deep domain expertise with hands-on experience in enterprise application development, platform integration, and digital innovation. The ideal candidate will be a technology expert with a strong foundation in upstream/downstream operations and a proven track record of delivering technology-enabled solutionsKey Responsibilities: Act as adomain and technology advisor , aligning oil & gas business processes with scalable digital and IT solutions. Collaborate with product owners, architects, and engineering teams to definefunctional and technical requirements , business use cases, and solution architectures. Lead thedesign and development of enterprise applications , including custom modules, integrations, and workflow automation. Drive adoption ofmodern technology stacks , includingcloud-native platforms, microservices, APIs, and data-driven applications . Participate inarchitecture reviews , platform evaluations, and solution blueprinting with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability. Provide deep insights into oil & gas workflows, regulatory frameworks, and operational KPIs to inform solution design. Validate application configurations, business logic, and data pipelines against industry standards and benchmarks. Support DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and agile delivery methodologies across cross-functional teams. Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge transfer, and stakeholder enablement sessions. Desirably, engage in vendor management, solution assessments, and technology road-map as a strategic partnerRequired Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Petroleum, Geoscience, IT, or related field;Master’s or MBA is a plus . Minimum12 years of total experience , with at least 7+ years intechnology ledoil & gas industry-specific roles. Strong understanding ofsoftware development lifecycle (SDLC) , agile methodologies, and enterprise architecture principles. Experience in any of the software languages .net C#/Java, cloud technologies. Proven expertise inat least oneof the following domains: Upstream operations (exploration, drilling, reservoir, production) Downstream processes (refinery, petrochemicals) Familiarity with Asset integrity and reliability Familiarity with Digital oilfield / Smart field solutions Familiarity with platforms such asSAP (IS-Oil), Honeywell, AVEVA, OSIsoft PI, SCADA, or similar . Experience in pre-sales Experience as Product owner is an added advantage. Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to work in cross-functional teams and influence decision-making at executive levels.
