About the Role We are looking for a strategic, heart-driven, hands-on leader to serve as our Chief Operating Officer. As COO, you will be the Head of Operations and Business at MuSo - responsible for ensuring the museum runs with operational brilliance, financial strength, and a culture of hospitality and excellence. You’ll lead the teams that power MuSo’s engine - Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, HR, and Administration - and ensure that every child, family, and school that walks through our doors has a seamless, delightful, and impactful experience. As the CEO fuels MuSo’s vision, imagination, and spirit, the COO transforms that vision into reality - building the structures, rhythms, and momentum to grow with purpose, values and integrity. This is a critical leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, structure, people, and purpose . What You’ll Do Lead with Strategy Develop annual operating plans and business models that align with MuSo’s social mission and long-term sustainability. Lead revenue and visitor growth strategies in collaboration with the CEO and other senior leaders. Run Operations Smoothly Ensure day-to-day functioning across departments, verticals, and the museum, is seamless, joyful, and aligned to visitor needs. Oversee SOPs, museum policies, and continuous process improvement. Drive Financial Health Partner with Finance to ensure budgets are purposeful and monitored actively. Analyze key metrics to drive sustainability and impact. Build Relationships that Matter Foster lasting relationships with school networks, parents, partners, vendors, and visitors. Ensure feedback systems are in place to learn and improve constantly. Nurture the MuSo Culture Build and grow a high-performing, values-aligned team. Coach and support team leads across verticals. Help build MuSo into a place where people love to work. Manage Risks with Intent Stay on top of legal, safety, and regulatory compliance. Keep systems ready to respond to challenges quickly and smartly. Champion Innovation Bring a mindset of experimentation and continuous improvement. Stay curious—benchmarking against world-class cultural institutions and thinking ahead. Who You Are A senior professional with 10–20 years of experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership. You bring experience from operational, educational, hospitality, or mission-driven sectors. You know how to build systems and inspire people. You love working in dynamic, creative spaces that serve communities. You care deeply about equity, inclusion, and child-centered impact. You’re organized, adaptable and excellent at building relationships. Educational Background MBA / Master’s Degree / CA / ICWA preferred.
