Pastry Chef - Multi-Camp Luxury Safari Operation - Kruger National Park Role Overview: An exciting opportunity for a passionate and hardworking Pastry Chef to manage daily pastry production across three luxury safari camps. This role requires an early riser with strong organisational skills, capable of delivering consistent, high-quality baked goods and desserts while supporting broader kitchen operations in a dynamic safari environment. Key Responsibilities: Pastry Production & Preparation • Prepare fresh breads, pastries, and desserts daily for three camps • Ensure consistency, quality, and timely delivery each morning • Contribute to menu ideas and creative pastry development • Maintain high standards of presentation and taste Kitchen Support & Collaboration • Assist Executive Chef and Head Chef with daily kitchen operations • Support other kitchen sections with food preparation when required • Assist with general kitchen duties across departments Stock Control & Administration • Support stock control processes and minimise food waste • Ensure requisitions and issue sheets are completed accurately • Assist with kitchen inventory and basic reporting tasks Hygiene & Compliance • Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards at all times • Ensure clean, organised, and compliant pastry and kitchen areas • Follow all lodge SOPs and operational procedures Operational Requirements • Early start at 04h00 daily to ensure fresh morning production • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays • Work efficiently under pressure in a remote safari environment Requirements: • 2–3 years’ experience in a similar pastry or kitchen role • Previous lodge or safari hospitality experience advantageous • Strong organisational and time management skills • Ability to work independently and take initiative • Good communication skills (English – written and spoken) • Valid driver’s licence essential • Flexible, reliable, and able to handle early mornings Package & Benefits: • Shared live-in accommodation provided • 7 days off per month + 21 consecutive annual leave days • Paid Sundays and public holidays • 5% provident fund contribution • Opportunity to work across multiple luxury safari camps Please note that only suitable candidates meeting the requirements of the position will be contacted.
