Roles and ResponsibilitiesBusiness Strategy & Growth:Develop and execute the strategic roadmap to achieve revenue, margin, and expansion objectives.Design a turnaround strategy to improve same-store sales growth and increase customer transactions.Drive market expansion in Tier 2–6 cities through scalable, profitable store models.Collaborate with leadership to align business strategy with organizational goals and visionOperational ExcellenceOversee end-to-end retail operations for stores.Implement standardized SOPs to drive consistency in store operations, service quality, and brand experience.Monitor key business metrics — sales, margins, footfall, number of bills, shrinkage, and customer satisfaction.Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvement initiatives using retail best practices.Business & Financial PerformanceOwn the P&L of the retail division, ensuring profitability and cash flow discipline.Optimize cost structures while improving sales productivity and store-level economics.Use analytics and data-driven insights to support business decisions, pricing, and assortment planning.Regularly review store-wise and category-wise performance to drive accountability.Supply Chain & Inventory ManagementEnsure efficient procurement, warehousing, and last-mile distribution of grocery and FMCG products.Maintain optimal inventory levels to reduce non-moving stock and improve stock turns.Build strategic supplier partnerships and strengthen demand forecasting accuracy.Customer Experience & Brand StrengtheningStrengthen the customer value proposition for small-format grocery retail.Introduce initiatives to enhance customer engagement, loyalty, and convenience (including digital solutions).Build the brand presence with localized marketing and differentiated in-store experiences.Technology & Digital TransformationPartner with technology and digital teams to modernize operations through POS, data analytics, and customer apps.Lead initiatives for automation, data-driven inventory management, and digital engagement across stores.Leverage tech-enabled solutions to drive operational visibility and decision-making.Leadership & People DevelopmentLead, mentor, and build a high-performing operations and business team.Foster a culture of performance, agility, and accountability across the organization.Develop the next line of leadership and strengthen capability building across store and regional levels.Champion a culture of ownership, innovation, and customer-centric thinking.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)- Same-store sales growth (% YoY) - Increase in average bill count and value - Inventory turns and non-moving stock reduction - Store profitability (EBITDA improvement) - Operational efficiency & cost optimization - Employee engagement and team performance scores - Key Interactions with Internal and External Stakeholders
