Finance Controller

Job Title: Finance Controller – 5-Star Hotel (Juba, South Sudan)Location : Juba, South Sudan (This role is based in Juba and requires relocation.)Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced Finance Controller with a strong hospitality (hotel) finance background to lead the finance function of a luxury 5-star hotel in Juba, South Sudan. The role is responsible for end-to-end financial stewardship, robust controls, timely reporting, compliance, and business partnering with the General Manager and department heads to drive profitability and operational efficiency.Key Responsibilities : Financial Leadership & ControlsLead the hotel finance department and ensure effective financial governance, policies, and internal controls.Maintain accurate books of accounts and ensure adherence to hotel accounting standards and brand/ownership reporting requirements.Manage cashflow planning, cash controls, banking operations, and working capital optimization.Reporting & ClosingOversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.Prepare and present financial performance reports, variance analysis, and KPI dashboards (RevPAR, GOP, departmental profitability, etc.).Ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations and follow-through on aging items.Budgeting, Forecasting & Business PartneringLead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting; partner with department heads on cost control and productivity.Drive profitability initiatives through analysis of revenue mix, cost of sales, payroll, and operating expenses.Provide scenario planning and decision support to the GM/leadership team.Compliance, Taxation & AuditEnsure compliance with local statutory requirements, tax regulations, and corporate policies.Manage external audits, statutory filings, and liaison with auditors, banks, and relevant authorities.Ensure strong controls around revenue, receivables, payables, procurement, and inventory.Revenue, Cost & Inventory ControlStrengthen revenue assurance: POS/PMS integrations, daily revenue checks, rebates/allowances review, credit control.Oversee procurement-to-pay controls, supplier management, and payment discipline.Ensure effective inventory accounting and controls across F&B, stores, and operating supplies.Team ManagementLead, coach, and develop the finance team; ensure segregation of duties and continuous improvement.Promote a culture of accountability, compliance, and service-oriented collaboration with operations.Required Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting (Master’s and/or professional certification is a plus: CA/CPA/ACCA/CMA).8–12+ years of progressive finance experience, including at least 4–6 years in the hospitality industry (luxury/5-star hotel experience strongly preferred).Proven experience as Finance Controller / Financial Controller / Assistant FC (ready step-up) within a hotel environment.Strong knowledge of hotel finance processes: revenue audit, night audit controls, F&B cost control, payroll, budgeting, and cash management.High proficiency in Excel and hotel finance systems (exposure to Opera / Micros / SAP / Sun Systems / Oracle / etc. is an advantage).Demonstrated ability to operate in challenging or emerging markets with strong compliance discipline.Skills & CompetenciesStrong leadership, integrity, and an internal-control mindset.Hands-on and detail-oriented with the ability to work strategically.Strong stakeholder management with operations (rooms, F&B, engineering, procurement).Excellent analytical skills, communication, and presentation capability.Ability to work under pressure and meet strict reporting deadlines.Working ConditionsRole is based in Juba, South Sudan.Relocation required
