Scope: Responsible for providing technical knowledge to smallholder farmers on latest vegetablefarming techniques and promoting profitable and sustainable farm practices.Place of work: Assam or Chhattisgarh, IndiaEmployment: On rolls of our Manpower partnerABOUT USEast-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation (EWS-KT) trains smallholder farmers in sustainable andprofitable vegetable farming techniques and improves their business skills. In this way, we aim to increase thesupply of safe-to-eat vegetables, while simultaneously catalyzing the development of innovative agriculturalinput markets. By leveraging a market-driven approach, we help to position vegetable production as anattractive and viable business opportunity for local communities.EWS-KT actively supports smallholder farmers in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ghana, India, Myanmar, Nigeria, thePhilippines, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. Since 2015, we have trained more than 1 million farmers inAsia and Africa. For more information, visit KEY RESPONSIBILITIES● Identify villages for our vegetable farming interventions● Provide technical support on vegetable production techniques to smallholder farmers in 10–15selected villages per year, working with key farmers to establish 40 demonstration plots per year aspractical learning sites for farmers● Train 1,000–1,200 farmers per year at these demonstration plots, with each farmer attending 2–5practical training sessions in one season● Organize 40 Field Days per yearQUALIFICATIONS● Diploma or degree in agriculture/horticulture, or any other degree with field experience● Must have a valid driver's license and a motorcycle● One year of experience as a trainer in extension education● Ability to effectively transfer the vegetable production knowledge to farmers● Good time management and organizational skills● Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the local language (Hindi for Chhattisgarh andAssamese for Assam)APPLICATION INFORMATION (IMPORTANT)At EWS-KT, we value diversity and aspire to reflect this in our workforce.
