Turret Programmer

Job Purpose: To develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for turret punch press machines (e.g., Amada, Trumpf, LVD, Murata), ensuring efficient, accurate, and high-quality sheet metal component manufacturing while maximizing material utilization and machine productivity. Key Responsibilities: Programming & Tooling Prepare CNC programs for turret punch presses using CAD/CAM software (e.g., Amada AP100, VPSS 3i Punch, Radan, Jetcam, SigmaNEST). Select appropriate punches, dies, and forming tools; manage turret tool layouts. Create and maintain standard tooling libraries. Optimize tool paths to minimize cycle time, tool wear, and collisions. Nesting & Material Utilization Develop efficient nesting layouts to maximize sheet utilization and minimize scrap. Plan jobs based on material availability, thickness, and production schedules. Drawing & Design Interpretation Interpret 2D/3D CAD drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Convert design models into flat patterns suitable for turret punching. Process Optimization Conduct offline program simulations to detect errors and collisions. Continuously improve punching sequences and nesting strategies. Work with production to reduce setup times and improve throughput. Collaboration & Support Provide setup sheets, machine instructions, and tooling details to operators. Assist operators in resolving issues related to programs or machine performance. Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability. Documentation & Compliance Maintain program database, version control, and documentation. Ensure compliance with company quality standards, ISO procedures, and safety norms. Key Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes. Hands-on experience with CNC turret punch presses (Amada, Trumpf, etc.). Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, AP100, Radan, etc.). Understanding of G-code/M-code (basic editing if required). Knowledge of different turret tools (round, oblong, cluster, nibbling, forming tools). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail, accuracy, and productivity focus.
