QA Engineer – Application Migration & AutomationAbout the RoleWe are seeking a skilled QA Engineer to support a critical application modernization and migration initiative. This role will focus on ensuring quality, stability, and data integrity as systems are migrated from .NET to .NET Core, backend logic is refactored, and infrastructure transitions from AWS EC2 to containerized environments.This is a hands-on role for a QA professional who thrives in complex technical environments and has experience validating large-scale application and infrastructure changes.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign own test cases and execute test strategies for application migration and modernization projectsPerform regression, integration, and system testing during .NET to .NET Core migrationValidate backend and data-layer changes, including data integrity and business logic accuracyDevelop and maintain automated test suites (API, backend, and integration tests)Partner closely with backend engineers and DevOps on defect resolutionParticipate in CI/CD pipelines to ensure quality gates are metDocument test plans, test cases, and defect reportsIdentify migration risks and recommend quality mitigation strategiesRequired Qualifications5+ years of experience in software quality assuranceHands-on experience testing backend and API-driven applicationsProven experience supporting application migrations or major platform changesStrong understanding of .NET-based applications and backend architecturesExperience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, REST Assured, Postman, or similar)Experience with SQL and database validationFamiliarity with cloud environments, preferably AWSStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skillsComfortable working in a freelance/contract role with minimal supervisionNice to HaveExperience testing containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)CI/CD integration experience (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, etc.)Performance or load testing experienceExperience in modernization, refactoring, or re-architecture projectsISTQB or similar QA certificationsEngagement DetailsFreelance / independent contractor engagementFlexible schedule with some overlap with U.S. business hoursHow to ApplyPlease include:Resume sent to resumes@Summary of experience with application migrations and automationTooling and frameworks used for automationAvailability and hourly rate
