Head of Civil Engineer Department

OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and highly competent professional to lead our Civil Department. The selected candidate will be responsible for end-to-end management of civil projects, including preparation of project quotations, business development and lead generation, project execution, and resolution of all project-related technical and operational matters.The role requires strong technical expertise, in-depth knowledge of civil engineering practices, and the ability to independently handle multiple projects while ensuring quality standards, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all civil engineering activities across multiple projects from inception to completion.Prepare accurate project estimates, costings, BOQs, and quotations.Drive business development efforts, including lead generation, client engagement, and proposal support.Plan, execute, monitor, and control project schedules, budgets, and resources.Ensure timely project delivery while maintaining quality and safety standards.Identify, analyze, and resolve project-related technical and operational challenges.Coordinate with internal teams, site engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.Provide leadership, guidance, and technical direction to the civil team.Governance, Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure all projects comply with statutory regulations, local building codes, safety standards, and contractual obligations.Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes.Ensure adherence to company policies, project governance frameworks, and ethical standards.Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize cost overruns and delays.Maintain proper project documentation, approvals, and reporting systems.Management of External Consultants & StakeholdersCoordinate and manage external consultants, architects, structural engineers, and other third-party service providers.Liaise with clients, authorities, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.Review consultant drawings, reports, and recommendations to ensure alignment with project requirements.Represent the organization in technical discussions, site meetings, and client reviews.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech); Master’s degree preferred.Minimum 5 - 10 years of relevant experience in civil construction and project management.Proven experience in independently managing multiple civil projects end-to-end.Strong background in estimation, costing, tendering, and contract management.Experience in business development and client coordination is highly desirable.Essential Skills & AbilitiesStrong technical knowledge of civil engineering practices, construction methods, and materials.Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Excel, and other relevant project management tools.High level of organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
