If you’re ready to create meaningful change and build your future, CIBC India is where your ambition meets opportunity.What You’ll Be Doing (position summary): The Senior Director, Commercial Banking and Payment Operations is a strategic leader responsible for delivering efficient, innovative, and compliant operational services across multiple banking domains, which may include Commercial Banking, Retail Banking Operations, Capital Markets Operations and Wealth Management Operations. This role drives transformation initiatives, operational excellence, and risk management while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements. The Senior Director provides leadership to large, multi-disciplinary teams, manages complex operational portfolios, and cultivates strong cross-functional partnerships to support CIBC’s growth, client service, and continuous improvement ambitions. Details on your work arrangement (including on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.How You’ll Succeed (responsibilities): Develop, implement, and manage strategic and tactical plans for Banking Operations to address current and future business needs across multiple lines of business Lead transformation and modernization initiatives, leveraging automation, AI, and process innovation to streamline operations, enhance productivity, and drive cost efficiency Oversee the management of large operational teams, providing direction, motivation, coaching, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth Ensure operational processes are efficient, well-controlled, compliant with regulatory requirements, and aligned with enterprise risk management frameworks Build and maintain strong relationships with key business partners, stakeholders, and external entities to ensure effective collaboration and delivery of operational solutions Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks, and implement process enhancements to strengthen controls and resilience Manage operational budgets, monitor unit costing, and drive initiatives for cost optimization and service excellence Oversee the delivery of high-quality client service, ensuring service standards and performance targets are consistently met or exceeded Communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders regarding objectives, priorities, changes, and achievements Support talent management by recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing team members and ensuring robust succession planningExperience:15+ years of experience Who You Are (skills/qualifications): Must Have Skills: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma, ACAMS) are an asset. 15+ years of progressive experience in banking operations leadership, with a proven track record leading large teams in Commercial and Corporate Banking environments. Experience with Retail, Wealth Management, or Capital Markets is an asset but not required. Extensive experience in payments operations, including AML, SWIFT, correspondent banking, global money movement, and client onboarding processes. Demonstrated ability to lead operational transformation and process optimization, with a focus on automation and technology enablement. Experience inspiring teams and organizing resources to achieve a strategic vision is essential. Successful track record in building new teams from the ground up, including recruiting, onboarding, establishing processes, and fostering a positive team culture. Strong knowledge of banking products, operational processes, and regulatory/compliance frameworks, especially in areas relevant to business banking and payments. Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience building and developing high-performing, multi-functional teams. Effective cross-border collaboration skills, with experience managing teams and projects across different geographies and time zones, including alignment with operations teams in other cross-border jurisdictions. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, with a focus on operational risk management and performance metrics. Superior communication and stakeholder management skills, able to influence and negotiate at all levels of the organization.
