The brand works with pure fabrics, handwoven textiles, traditional weaving techniques, hand embroidery, and refined craftsmanship to create pieces that feel collectible, elegant, and heirloom-worthy.We are looking for a fashion designer who can understand Indian textiles deeply, respect traditional craftsmanship, and also bring a refined contemporary design vision suitable for premium and luxury customers.Role OverviewThe Fashion Designer will be responsible for developing design concepts, saree collections, blouse designs, ethnic silhouettes, embroidery ideas, color palettes, mood boards, and production-ready design directions for Loom Saga.This role requires someone who is not only creative, but also practical, detail-oriented, textile-aware, and capable of working with weavers, karigars, tailors, embroiderers, vendors, and the brand team.This is not a role for someone who only makes Pinterest boards. We need a designer who can convert ideas into executable, sellable, premium products.Key Responsibilities1. Collection DevelopmentDevelop seasonal and capsule collections for Loom Saga, including:Sarees, blouses, dupattas, lehengas, ethnic separates, fusion sarees, occasion wear, and limited-edition pieces.Create design concepts based on:Indian heritage, regional weaving traditions, temple art, royal textiles, wedding culture, festive dressing, heirloom fashion, and contemporary luxury aesthetics.Prepare clear collection themes, mood boards, color stories, fabric directions, embroidery references, border ideas, pallu concepts, blouse designs, and styling references.2. Saree & Textile DesignDesign saree layouts including:Body patterns, borders, pallus, motifs, buttas, color blocking, contrast combinations, and finishing details.Work on design directions for handloom sarees such as:Banarasi, Patola, Jamdani, Kanjivaram-inspired, Ashavali, Ikat, hand-painted sarees, embroidered sarees, and other Indian textile styles.Understand how design must adapt to weaving limitations and production realities.Coordinate with weavers and vendors to translate design concepts into actual woven pieces.3. Embroidery & Surface DesignDevelop hand embroidery concepts suitable for luxury sarees and occasion wear.Work on embroidery placements for:Borders, pallus, blouse sleeves, necklines, dupattas, lehengas, and statement details.Create embroidery references using zardozi, aari, pearl work, sequins, beads, threadwork, cutdana, and other premium techniques.Prepare clear instructions for karigars, including motif size, placement, color, material, and finish expectations.4. Blouse & Garment DesignDesign premium blouse styles that complement Loom Saga sarees.Create silhouettes suitable for:Bridal wear, festive wear, luxury occasion wear, editorial shoots, and modern Indian dressing.Coordinate with tailors/pattern masters for fitting, cutting, stitching, finishing, and corrections.Ensure every blouse and garment maintains luxury-level finishing.5. Technical DocumentationPrepare design sheets and tech packs where required, including:Sketches, measurements, fabric references, embroidery placements, color codes, trims, finishing details, lining details, and production instructions.Maintain a design archive for every collection, including references, sketches, samples, vendor notes, and final product details.6. Vendor & Artisan CoordinationWork directly with:Weavers, dyeing units, embroidery karigars, tailors, fabric vendors, photographers, stylists, and production coordinators.Explain design requirements clearly and monitor execution quality.Follow up on sampling, corrections, deadlines, finishing, and final delivery.7. Trend & Market ResearchResearch Indian and global luxury fashion trends, bridal trends, couture designers, handloom revival brands, color forecasts, textile innovations, and customer preferences.Study brands such as Sabyasachi, Raw Mango, Ekaya, Torani, Jayanti Reddy, Tarun Tahiliani, Anita Dongre, and global luxury houses for market understanding — not for copying, but for understanding positioning, quality, styling, and storytelling.8. Photoshoot & Styling SupportSupport the team in photoshoot planning by suggesting:Draping style, blouse pairing, jewellery direction, model styling, background mood, visual story, and product presentation.Help ensure every saree looks premium, desirable, and aligned with Loom Saga’s brand language.Required SkillsThe candidate must have:Strong knowledge of Indian textiles, handlooms, sarees, embroidery, and ethnic wear.Good sketching and design visualization ability.Ability to create mood boards, color palettes, and design references.Understanding of fabric behavior, drape, fall, finishing, and garment construction.Ability to work with artisans, weavers, tailors, and vendors.Good eye for luxury detailing, proportion, color, and refinement.Practical understanding of production feasibility.Ability to manage timelines and follow up consistently.Basic knowledge of software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, Procreate, CorelDRAW, or similar tools is preferred.Preferred ExperienceFashion design graduate or diploma holder from NIFT, NID, Pearl Academy, Hamstech, INIFD, or equivalent institutions.Experience in sarees, bridal wear, handlooms, Indian ethnic wear, or couture is preferred.Prior experience working with hand embroidery, weaving clusters, or artisan-led production is an added advantage.Freshers with strong textile understanding and refined design sense may also apply.Personality & Work StyleWe are looking for someone who is:Creative but disciplined.Luxury-sensitive, not loud or gimmicky.Respectful toward Indian craftsmanship.Detail-oriented and execution-focused.Open to feedback and corrections.Comfortable working with artisans and local vendors.Willing to learn deeply about Loom Saga’s brand identity.Serious about building a long-term design career, not just doing random fashion sketches.What This Role Is NotThis role is not just about making pretty designs.This role requires understanding whether a design can actually be woven, embroidered, stitched, priced, photographed, and sold.The designer must understand that Loom Saga is building a serious luxury handloom brand, so every design must carry quality, cultural depth, customer appeal, and commercial sense.Application RequirementsInterested candidates should share:Portfolio of fashion/textile design work.Saree, ethnic wear, embroidery, or textile-related work samples if available.Resume.Software skills.Previous work experience or internship details.A short note explaining why you are interested in working with a luxury Indian handloom brand
