Manager – Global Tax Operations (Information Reporting, Withholding & FATCA/CRS)Location: Hyderabad, India** Coverage: US EST hours through 5:00 PM ET** Experience: 12–15 yearsPosition OverviewThe Tax Operations Manager is a senior member of Cantor Fitzgerald’s Global Tax Operations organization, reporting directly to the Head of Global Tax Operations. The role oversees operational execution and control governance across U.S. withholding (FDAP/NRA, FATCA, backup), information reporting (Forms 1042, 1042-S, 1099, 945), FATCA/CRS due diligence, Financial Transaction Taxes (FTT), reconciliations, exceptions, deposits, and global regulatory compliance.Tax form validation (W-8/W-9) is performed by an external service provider. The Manager is responsible for ensuring correct data flow, monitoring completeness and accuracy of the provider’s output, reviewing exceptions, escalating issues, and maintaining strong documentation and withholding controls. The Manager must possess deep technical knowledge of how tax form validation is supposed to work, even though they do not perform validations themselves.The ideal candidate brings a process-improvement mindset, strong data and control capability, excellent team management skills, and a high-ownership, follow-through mentality.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Execution & Daily ControlLead daily Global Tax Operations activities, including withholding reviews, reporting validation, workflow approvals, mailbox management, and exception monitoring.Ensure tax documentation is correctly received, routed, and transmitted to the external documentation provider for validation.Maintain subject-matter expertise on W-8/W-9 rules and classification logic to validate whether provider outcomes are correct.Monitor vendor deliverables for completeness, timeliness, consistency, and accuracy.Oversee FATCA/CRS due diligence, entity classification, remediation, and related data integrity checks.Oversee Financial Transaction Tax (FTT) eligibility assessments, validations, and reconciliations.Ensure timely and accurate U.S. tax deposits; investigate breaks and drive resolution.Manage the entire exception lifecycle, including prioritization, escalation, closure, and documentation.Risk, Control & Audit GovernanceServe as control owner for maker-checker workflows, deposit approvals, documentation governance, and reporting validation controls.Maintain full audit readiness for IRS examinations, QI audits, FATCA/CRS audits, and internal audit reviews.Maintain complete control documentation and evidence, ensuring end-to-end traceability.Perform reconciliations across withholding, Tax reporting files (1099/1042-S, 945, 1042) documentation systems, and deposit accounts.Oversee external service provider outputs, ensuring they meet quality, control, and procedural expectations.Identify control gaps and lead remediation and standardization initiatives.Technology, Process Optimization & AutomationDrive process improvements across onboarding, documentation workflows, withholding, reporting, and reconciliations.Support enhancements to PowerApps workflows, documentation system updates, and integration across tax-related systems.Participate in automation initiatives including:AI-assisted documentation oversightAutomated FATCA/CRS pre-classificationAutomated reconciliationsWithholding variance detectionPredictive exception monitoringProduce and maintain dashboards and management reporting (exceptions, deposits, documentation aging, FATCA/CRS metrics, FTT exposure).Identify bottlenecks and implement sustainable improvements.Leadership & Operational ContinuityServe as the senior Global Tax Operations lead in India and manage day-to-day team activity.Lead, coach, and develop team members; ensure adherence to controls, documentation standards, and deadlines.Provide operational coverage through 5:00 PM ET to support the U.S. business day and regulatory timelines.Maintain strong follow-through on open items, escalations, and deliverables.Support the execution of the multi-year operating model (Gen 1 → Gen 2 → Gen 3).Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.12–15 years of experience in U.S. tax information reporting, withholding, FATCA/CRS, or financial services tax operations.Strong technical knowledge of:W-8/W-9 rules and presumption logicForms 1042, 1042-S, 1099, 945FATCA/CRS classificationsFDAP/NRA and backup withholding requirementsFinancial Transaction Taxes (FTT)Strong analytical and data skills (advanced Excel, reconciliations, exception analysis).Demonstrated experience managing teams and working in a control-driven environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience with workflow or documentation platforms (e.g., Goldtier, PowerApps).Experience working with tax reporting (1099, 1042-S, W8, W9) or regulatory systems.Exposure to audits (QI, IRS, FATCA/CRS) or regulatory examinations.Experience with automation or AI-driven process improvements.Experience overseeing external providers, including output review, issue escalation, and performance monitoring.Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.Strong organizational discipline and ability to maintain follow-ups, deadlines, and oversight in a U.S.-aligned environment.SummaryThis Manager role serves as the senior Global Tax Operations lead in India, responsible for accurate tax reporting, strong control execution, oversight of external documentation provider outputs, team leadership, process improvement, automation support, and scalable global operations under the direction of the Head of Global Tax Operations.
