Job Description: Store Executive – Steel Industry (Plant Store) Position:Sr. Executive – Plant Store Department:Stores & Logistics / Material Management Location:[Insert Location] Reports To:Store In-charge / Manager – Materials / Supply Chain Manager Job Summary The Store Executive is responsible for managing the plant’s engineering, mechanical, electrical, and consumable materials efficiently. This role ensures accurate inventory, timely material issuance, proper documentation, and smooth coordination with production, maintenance, purchase, and logistics teams. The role requires strong knowledge of industrial inventory systems, ERP operations, and adherence to safety and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities 1. Material Receipt & Verification Receive raw materials, engineering spares, consumables, safety items, and production-related materials. Verify received goods against purchase orders, delivery challans, test certificates (TC), and quality parameters. Coordinate with QC for inspection and documentation approvals. Update GRN (Goods Receipt Note) in ERP. 2. Inventory & Store Management Maintain accurate stock levels of critical spares, fast-moving items, and consumables. Perform daily/weekly/monthly physical stock checks and reconcile discrepancies. Ensure proper storage systems (rack/bin location coding, FIFO/LIFO as applicable). Monitor and manage slow-moving, non-moving, and scrap materials. 3. Material Issuance & Documentation Issue materials to production, maintenance, fabrication, utility, and other plant departments as per job cards/indents. Maintain accurate records of material transactions in ERP. Prepare material return notes, transfer notes, and stock adjustment entries as required. 4. ERP & MIS Reporting Use ERP (SAP/Oracle/Tally/Custom ERP) for entries like GRN, issuance, stock updates, and reporting. Generate daily stock reports, consumption summaries, and material availability status. Track minimum/maximum stock levels and alert on shortages. 5. Coordination & Communication Coordinate with Purchase for urgent material requirements and pending orders. Support maintenance teams by ensuring availability of mechanical/electrical spares. Liaise with suppliers, transporters, and internal departments for smooth workflow. 6. Compliance & Safety Ensure all material handling practices follow company safety guidelines. Maintain MSDS for chemicals, lubricants, and hazardous materials. Support audit processes (ISO, internal audits, stock audits). Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the store area. Qualifications & Skills Education Diploma / ITI / Graduate in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, or Supply Chain (preferred). Certification in Material Management / Inventory Management is an advantage. Experience 1–5 years in engineering store operations, preferably in steel plants, heavy industries, or manufacturing units. Technical Skills Knowledge of industrial materials: mechanical spares, bearings, tools, motors, pumps, steel items, fabrication consumables, PPE, etc. Basic understanding of QC requirements, test certificates, and material specifications. Strong hands-on experience with ERP systems. Soft Skills Good communication and coordination skills Accuracy and attention to detail Problem-solving and time management Ability to work under pressure in plant environment
