If you’re excited by the prospect of creating something magical from scratch, then read on.What the role is all about:As an Engineer (2-3 years’ experience) on our Observability Platform team, you will help empower hundreds of engineers at REA by providing them with a best-in-class observability toolkit. Your team owns and evolves our core observability stack.You will play a key role in enhancing and automating this platform, contributing to the development of robust tooling that integrates our observability services into our internal developer platform. This is a high-impact role where your work directly improves the reliability of REA's products and the productivity of our development teams.While no two days are likely to be the same, your typical responsibilities will include: Contribute to the management and evolution of REA's central observability platform, helping to ensure it is scalable and reliable.Build and maintain tooling and integrations to seamlessly embed observability into our internal developer platform.Partner with development teams to promote best practices in monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting.Troubleshoot and help optimise the performance of the observability platform itself (e.g., Splunk, New Relic).Develop automation to streamline operational tasks.Take ownership of your technical deliverables and tasks.Who we’re looking for:2-3 years of engineering experience with a focus on observability, SRE, or platform engineering.Experience with observability tools.Experience building developer-focused tooling or platform integrations using a general-purpose language.Experience with containerisation and cloud platforms.An understanding of SRE principles, including SLIs/SLOs and proactive monitoring.Good communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts.A collaborative mindset and a passion for improving the developer experience.Bonus Points for:Experience with Open Telemetry (OTel).Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).What we offer: A hybrid and flexible approach to working.Transport options to help you get to and from work, including home pick-up and drop-off.Meals provided on site in our office.Flexible leave options including parental leave, family care leave and celebration leave.Insurances for you and your immediate family members.Programs to support mental, emotional, financial and physical health & wellbeing.Continuous learning and development opportunities to further your technical expertise.The values we live by:Our values are at the core of how we operate, treat each other, and make decisions.
