Job Title: Head of Finance Location: Gurgaon / Onsite Department: Finance Reports to: FoundersAbout Cumin Co.Cumin Co. is a health-first cookware and kitchenware brand built for the modern Indian home — blending design, material science, and innovation. Backed by Fireside Ventures and Huddle Ventures, we are rapidly scaling across D2C, marketplaces, retail, and new product categories.We are looking for a strong Finance Controller to establish and lead our finance backbone as we scale from 0 → 100.Role OverviewAs Cumin Co. enters its next phase of scale (₹100 Cr ARR → ₹300 Cr growth path), we are looking for a Financial Controller who can build financial discipline, streamline monthly closes, elevate our reporting, and act as the financial backbone for founders. You will own end-to-end finance, ensure hygiene, build scalable processes, partner with cross-functional teams, and bring Big-Four-grade governance to a fast-moving consumer brand.Key ResponsibilitiesControllership & AccountingOwn end-to-end books: monthly, quarterly, and annual closing with zero slippages.Build & enforce accounting policies across revenue, COGS, inventory, provisions, depreciation, etc.Ensure accurate P&L, BS & Cash flow statements.Oversee GST, TDS, payroll, reconciliations, inter-company transactions, vendor/GRN processes.Manage audits (statutory, internal, tax) with Big Four-grade preparedness.Implement strong internal controls and risk-mitigation procedures.FP&A and Business PartneringPrepare AOP, budgeting cycles, monthly variance analysis, rolling forecasts.Partner with Marketing, Supply Chain, Ops for unit economics, CAC analysis, contribution margins.SKU-wise profitability, channel-wise margins, cost optimization, pricing analysis.Cashflow planning: burn, working capital cycles, inventory turns.Build dashboards for founders, investors & board.Process & Systems OwnershipStreamline finance processes for scale: procurement → payable → inventory → revenue.Own ERP implementation and optimization (Zoho / NetSuite / SAP B1 etc.).Introduce automation for reconciliation, payouts, settlements, and reporting.Compliance, Tax & Legal CoordinationGST, Income Tax, MCA filings; coordination with legal on ROC/secretarial.Ensure compliance with FEMA, TDS, ESOPs, PF/ESI and all statutory frameworks.Manage equity rounds support: data room, diligence, cap table hygiene.Leadership & Team BuildingBuild and mentor a high-performing finance team (2–4 people initially).Set up SOPs, RACI, internal handbook sand financial governance.Ideal CandidateCA (mandatory).3–4 years Big Four experience (Audit/ TAS / Consulting).2–3 years experience in a funded startup, ideally D2C / FMCG / consumer.Deep understanding of unit economics, multi-channel D2C financial models.Hands-on with accounting + strategic with finance.Strong command over Ind-AS,GST, MIS reporting, financial hygiene.Ability to operate in high-speed, founder-led environment.PreferredExperience working with consumer brands(D2C, e-commerce, FMCG).Implemented ERP or led finance digitisation projects.Exposure to fundraising cycles and investor reporting.Why Join Us?Work directly with ISB-alumni Founders from Zomato, Meta, Deloitte & Mastercard.Opportunity to build the finance foundation of a rapidly scaling VC-backed consumer brand.High ownership, fast-paced environment, and steep learning curve.A culture that values clarity, meritocracy, and continuous improvement.
